Summary:

The Haunted Graveyard was created by owner Ernie Romegialli, whose daughter was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of six.
To take her mind off the candy she couldn’t have, Romegialli threw himself heart and soul into decorating the family house for Halloween. This led him to conceive of an open attraction with a dual purpose – to give people a good scare, and to raise money for the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
In its first fifteen years, The Haunted Graveyard raised approximately a million dollars for diabetes research. Its construction and execution each year has been called a “labor of love” by Romegialli.
New England’s largest Halloween attraction lies just a few short yards from ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut. Lake Compounce family theme park has played host to over 200 ghosts, goblins, witches, and vampires since 1999, and every year thousands of excited patrons visit the Graveyard to see what new spooky features it has in store for them.
The Haunted Graveyard is a 45-minute walk over a mile, boasting more than 14 different-themed “houses” and over 200 ghouls.
The Graveyard is never exactly the same two years in a row as Romegialli and his staff strive to improve and innovate every single year.
Visitors to The Haunted Graveyard have the option of buying either a single ticket for just admittance to The Haunted Graveyard, or the combination Haunted Graveyard/Lake Compounce ticket, which gives the bearer unlimited access to all rides as well as the tour of The Haunted Graveyard.
The attraction is open Friday-Sunday, September 29th – October 29th, depending on weather.

This haunt has been around for many years, and is part of Lake Compounce theme park. If you do go, I …show more recommend you get a double ticket and go to the park itself for a couple hours in the late afternoon, then go to the haunt.

A lot of people really like this haunt, more than I did. I liked it, but found others nearby (Trail of Terror, Haunted Acres) more effective, more detailed. This is however a good event and worth going to at least once.

It should be noted this is a mix of indoor and outdoor. They say it’s outdoor, but if you are going on a cool night, or there’s mist or even a very light rain, you could probably do this event and not just have to find an indoor one.

Not sure who paid for your review, but I disagree with much of your assessment. Yes, they are …show more really good at themes and their sets and costumes/make up let you know where you are, but the whole show is getting very tired and predictable. It was much better a few years ago. There were more actors, more energy and more scares. When I went this year, I can’t tell you how many actors I walked by that just watched me pass by or were too busy on their cell phones to provide a scare. A good number of the animatronics didn’t work. I paid a lot of money to visit the Graveyard. I didn’t pay to see the same tired old show that’s been there for years and actors just standing around texting other ghouls.

I came down with my husband for our anniversary, which happened to be Friday the 13th, you’d assume …show more one of the busier times for the season, so you’d have ample staff. Saw alot of the staff on phones, we got bunched together with 2 crowds before us. So it lost its scare factor. I think updating the animatronics to actually work, get actors who care and not on their cellphones and space out the crowds better. I truly enjoy supporting this place but just tired of being disappointed.
