Summary:

Tormented Souls Haunt is Madrid, Iowa’s most terrifying haunted outdoor scream park, described by guests as “Des Moines area’s BEST KEPT SECRET.” It is located on timber ground on the edge of the ghost town of Zook Spur, an old abandoned coal mining town.

Zook Spur’s residents are long gone in body but their spirits thrive in the paranormal phenomenons of the area. Experience the chill of the Fall air and the Tormented Souls of Zook Spur as we unleash your inner fears and stir up your worst nightmares. Stay very close to your friends and hold on for your life, this might very well be your final night.

Pick up the Tormented Souls Terror Bus, (if you dare) at Edgewood Park in Madrid, IA; it’s the only way to reach what lies in wait – out in the middle of no where! So hitch a ride on this scream maker with your eyes wide open in the pitch dark.

We like victims of all ages but do require parental consent and adult accompaniment for children under the age of 12.

An excellent haunted house. It is very long. There is an indoor opening segment following by a long …show more outdoor walk followed by a second even longer indoor segment. There are virtually non-stop scenes and creatures and props. The sheer volume of decorations is incredible. There is great attention to detail. For instance, sound effects fit some of the various scenes, like the insect and water noises in the swamp segment. The cave has imitation rock walls. And the mood is set by the initial bus transport to the haunted house that seems to take you out into the middle of nowhere. It is worth the trip.
I only scored it less than a 10 because the hay wagon zombie paintball shoot is not as fun as it has been in the past. The zombies stay distant and use cover, so it is more long-range target practice than defending against a zombie attach. However, the paintball shoot is a separate ticket, so you have the option to skip it.
