Team Mysterious Misery reviewed this attraction on October 1, 2011.

Final Score: 8.93

Scare-A-Torium had many up and downs this season to become haunt ready. As time quickly started winding down, the real fear that this attraction may not be ready was setting in. The staff worked night and day to create an absolute

Cast: 9.2

Scare-A-Torium has a large cast that keeps the attraction running in frightening fashion.. There are 86 hired actors for the haunted attraction this year. There are 62 veterans in this haunt and their talents and updates skills keep the haunt running flawless. There are 24 new hires this year, but because they are new doesn’t mean they’re not experienced. Scare-A-Torium has a rigid process for their cast and it pays in the excellent job each member does. Each cast member has an audition process where they are processed and then scored. Each member of the cast takes classes and lesson on character development and acting. They continue to grow and expand every year. We are truly amazed at the top notch quality of the cast. Definitely a plus for this attraction.

Costuming: 9.2

Scare-A-Torium has at their disposal one of the best make-up artist in the industry, Mr. Keith Newsome. If you can imagine it he can create it. With 4 make-up artist and 86 actors, each in a different costume, we are sure you will find a creature in the collection that scares you. At Scare-A-Torium you will find great costuming and special make up effects that will keep you amazed through all 55 scenes. You will not find your average costumes at this attraction. Each costume enhances the portrayal of the character and adds depth to every scene. Every character in this haunt is believable, but there is one that is a must see. We don’t want to give it all away but he has a box around his face. The work on the costume and this character is an absolute must see. If you think the thing standing in the corner is just a prop you may want to think again.

Customer Service: 9.5

Scare-A-Torium is top notch for customer service. Each and every year they only get better and more prepared in this area. If any problem arises, Scare-A-Torium has a plan and the people to execute the plan. They have a great staff that is very polite and always around to answer any question you may have. Scare-A-Torium is always well lit so you can feel safe in the parking lot. There wait lines and attreaction is inside so the weather is not an issue. There is no guessing where Scare-A-Torium is located because they have numerous signs, advertisement, and is in a new, bigger location. They also have professional makeup artists on location at times and by appointment to provide you with the perfect Halloween makeover. Also, on location, is The SCARE Store featuring Scare-A-Torium souvenir t-shirts, hats, costumes and professional quality makeup supplies. Don’t forget about the food, they have concessions inside and out. They also have Family Sundays. This is where you can take a stroll through the haunt with the lights on, no actors from 4:30-7 pm.

Atmosphere: 8.8

The atmosphere this year at Scare-A-Torium is fresh and new partly due to the new location and actors. There seems to be a new and fresh creepiness to the haunt. As you walk up to the door you are greeted by Forest Skunk. He gives you the rules and the low down on what to expect . As you walk through the door you hear the eerie sounds and the bloody screams. The front of the attraction is massive, creepy but yet front and center. Matt Steel down an amazing job at creating the entrance. Then you are directed through thousands of square feet of haunting glory. You will come face to face with 55 unique scenes of Colonel Frightmare’s collection from around the world.

Special Effects: 9

Scare-A- Torium has always been a leader in the haunt industry for special effects and this year is no different. Many special effects come from costuming and makeup to the big scenes that will have you amazed. Scare-A-Torium has innovative and unique concepts you will only see there. Their combined use of materials and lighting adds for some creepy scenes. Scare-A-Torium does not over use special effects but they use just enough to give 55 scenes the added touch that they need. They also have great artist and imagineers on hand to create special effects and illusions so that they are well placed and unique. One special effect that you must see is a costume that one cast member wears.

Theme: 9

Scare-A-Torium is a leader in the haunt industry in using a theme. They use a very broad theme so that many things can flow through the attraction and still work. Even though all the scenes are different, they still are cohesive in one big unit. The theme is that Colonel Frigtmore has traveled around the world collecting fears and has put them all in this one location to proudly present them to you. This attraction does just that covering every fear you can imagine from small to big. They added a few this year that sent members in my group into a sprint mode. You’ll ghouls and ghosts, spiders and skeletons, killer clowns and creeps, vampires and victims, supernatural and super spectral, the undead and the unstable, the decaying and the decapitated, ever assembled.

Fright Effect: 8.8

Scare-A-Torium takes all the elements and puts them together to offer you one of the best fright nights we have seen in a long time. If beingin a huge open air building isn’t enough, just wait until you get behind the entrance. Special effects, characters and creatures with thousands of places to hide and re-hide will get you at least once through your tour. No matter what you may be scared of it will find you will find it in Colonel Frightmore’s collection. There is a startle, a jump, and scare for each person in your group.
