Summary:

The Scare-A-Torium has been in the business for many years and is a must see haunted attraction in Columbus, Ohio. You will get to see some of the industry’s best actors and costuming. You will get to experience an insane asylum like never before. You will also attend a fun house that will not only scare you and show you awesome special effects but they will entertain you and you will have an amazing time. So grab a group of friends and head on out and make a night out of it. Remember to find Jimmie and don’t miss the rabbit hole or you will regret it.

Cast: 9

Scare-A-Torium always finds the best talent in the business to employ and this year is no different. They have hired 104 amazing actors and on an average night you will come face to face with 53 of them. These actors have been put through many tests, have learned many scare techniques, been to many classes and much more. Some of the best scares are here and this year you will see some very young beginners learning the ropes. There are also zone coaches who have worked hard and displayed hard work and talent to be in that position. This haunt never lets me down in this area. I can’t say enough about the high energy clowns who kept the party going all night. The wicked nun at the very beginning is awesome. The cast doesn’t stop with just the actors but spreads out to other people who work there. Shout out to Erin who was great with all the hospitality but guess you can’t expect anything less with the Collins running it.

Costuming: 8

Scare-A-Torium is not a place you will find generic costumes. Every costume fits the scene and helps make a character. You will not find one out of place. The very few masks, and I mean very few are executed perfectly and are barely noticeable. The makeup at this haunt is unbelievable! Employing some of the best in the industry gives you this advantage. Some of the costuming will have you asking your self is this real or face or was that what I thought it was.

Customer Service: 8

Scare-A-Torium has always had great customer service and in their 5th year they continue to be one of the best. Neena and Kelly are great people with a passion for this industry and you see it in them. The staff is amazing. They are in a well-lit area with great parking. You should have no problem finding the building as it has many signs and is well marked. They always have an officer on duty. Safety plans in place, well lit exits and inspection approved. Keeping their customers safe and satisfied is one area they excel in. They have actors out and about so there is a never dull moment. They have concessions, merchandise, and offer a party area for a birthday party or cooperate party, offer face painting classes and much more.

Atmosphere: 8

When you arrive you are greeted by an awesome looking nun with a ruler. Then you are taken to the video of the Northland Asylum which gives you the back story and you get that feeling that this is going to be a good night. When you enter the building is dimly lit and a little foggy and you can hear the screams of others and it makes you more anxious for the unknown. When you get to Stinker’s house you are greeted by a clown telling jokes and making you play games and then you know you are going to have a scary good time in this house.

Special Effects: 8

Scare-A-Torium is a haunted attraction that knows the balance of special effects and does a wonderful job at it. They do not do too many that makes it overkill and that’s all you see. They use enough at the right time to enhance each scene or help the actor convey a message. One of my favorites is that they use the sense of smell that gets to you. One of my other favorites is the effects used to help find that little Jimmy, which I adore.

Theme: 0

N/A
The Scare-A-Torium does not have one overall theme. There are two individual attractions and they both have their own distinct themes.

Fright Effect: 8

Scare-A-Torium is a place to get your fright on. They have a well-trained cast that knows exactly what it takes to get a jump or scream from each one of your group members. Everyone will get a scare and not just a certain area of your group. They are good at distracting you and before you know it you are focused on one thing and don’t see the other. They are good at mind trips in making you think you need to go one way and that’s not it. They utilize their whole bag of tricks it will never be the same type of scare each time.

Value: 8
