Haunt Name: Fear Fair
Review Team: Team Zombillies
Review Date: October 21, 2017

Final Score: 9.12
Cast
How believable were the actors? 9.25
Not as energetic as we’ve seen in the past. Seemed very tired, despite having a few hours left before closing time.
How interactive were the actors? 8.75
How well did the actors stay in character? 9.25
The guy at elevators was taking peoples’ glow sticks so he could “check them for leaks” and we didn’t see him give them back – but he may have. We also heard him say, “F***, I thought I was going to have a perfect group of 8” when he was only able to get 6 of us in one group.
How well did the actors work with their props and surroundings? 9.25
Were there enough actors? 8
We don’t recall very many totally empty areas, but actor density seemed lower than what we’ve seen in the past. Areas where we used to have several actors come after us now only had 1 or 2 (generally speaking)
How well did the actors use dialogue? 9.25
Those who had speaking roles were very good
How well did each of the characters fulfill their roles? Most were good, despite not having as much “energy” this year. We were disappointed to see a few of them trying to rush us through after their initial scare attempts instead of following up with additional scares or entertainment.

Were the sound effects effective/realistic? 9.25

Several massive scenes with awesome attention to detail and authentic building materials. Though, there were still several unfinished areas on the night of our visit
Were the special effects effective? 9
Several animatronics, air cannons and the tesla coil didn’t go off when we were near them. There’s a chance that this could’ve happened for many other groups as well.

Did they have any impressive special effects? 9
How well did the haunt use lighting? 9.5
Special Effects Score: 9.18

Scare Factor
How scary was it? 8
How well did they provide scares to the entire group?

Having fewer actors and malfunctioning (or poorly timed?) props kept the scares fairly one-dimensional
How predictable were the scares? 8.75
How many different types of scares were there? 9.15
How strong was the finale? 8
Saw entrapment was empty and a simple pass-through this year, but the Pighead chainsaw was still present. Though, he didn’t keep attacking us once he realized we weren’t terrified right off the bat.

The Scare Factor is modifying its review criteria for 2018. This means that some of the questions above may be different from how they were worded when this attraction was reviewed. During this transition, we will be adding, editing, moving and removing some questions to/from various categories. This means that some of the individual questions and resulting scores may not contribute to the overall score for the category that it is listed under. These potential inaccuracies only apply to reviews that were written before the 2018 haunt season. However, the overall category scores and the attraction’s “Final Score” will remain accurate. In the long run, we feel that these changes will benefit our visitors and the attractions alike by allowing us to be more fair to a wider variety of venues.
