This is not a ranking or a “10 best” list, and these certainly aren’t the only Florida haunts worth visiting. Think of this as a starting point for building your haunt list. There are plenty more attractions throughout Florida waiting to be discovered! This list is in no particular order.

Ominous Descent Haunted Attraction – Winter Haven, Florida

Ominous Descent Haunted Attraction in Winter Haven has become one of Florida’s standout haunted trails by focusing on immersive realism, original characters, detailed environments, and intense actor-driven scares. Instead of simply sending guests through a collection of unrelated scenes, Ominous Descent builds its experience around original stories and characters, with movie-quality sets helping make the horrors feel much more believable.

The attraction operates on the grounds of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge, and a portion of its proceeds supports Moose Charities. Their 2025 visit earned a 9.30/10 from our Scream Team and landed in our High Intensity range.

Opening night: September 26th

A Petrified Forest – Altamonte Springs, Florida

A Petrified Forest in Altamonte Springs gives guests something genuinely new every Halloween season because the haunt tears down and rebuilds the entire experience each year! For 2026, guests will once again find three all-new haunted scare trails, meaning even longtime visitors won’t simply be walking through last year’s haunt with a few new scenes mixed in. The three trails are: The Craving, Last Responders, and Drawn to Death.

Beyond the three primary trails, A Petrified Forest also offers limited-capacity experiences, including Dark Road Riders: The Keeper’s Offering, an escape ride, and Psychosis, an immersive horror experience. Our 2025 Scream Team visit praised the attraction for its three different horrors, constant scares, cohesive overall theme, and strong use of its wooded setting.

Tales of Terror Haunted Attraction – Astatula, Florida

Tales of Terror Haunted Attraction in Astatula isn’t trying to be the haunt for everyone. It bills itself as Central Florida’s only 18+ high-intensity haunted attraction, offering adult haunt fans an experience specifically designed to push the boundaries beyond a traditional family-friendly Halloween event.

One of Tales of Terror’s most unusual features is its Choose Your Fear Level system. Guests can choose a more traditional no-contact experience or step things up with higher-intensity options that make the attraction more interactive. The haunt itself takes place outdoors, using wooded trails and original characters to create a darker, more isolated atmosphere away from Central Florida’s major theme parks. They may also be open for off-season haunt events.

Opening night: October 2nd

Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail – Plant City, Florida

Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail in Plant City has grown into a horror theme park positioned almost perfectly between Tampa and Orlando. The property combines multiple story-driven haunted attractions with the Legends of Halloween Haunted Hayride, roaming characters, escape games, food, merchandise, and plenty happening throughout its atmospheric midway.

Sir Henry’s is especially well known for creating original characters and detailed backstories for its attractions, with new themes giving returning guests something different to experience each season. Our team praised the interactive cast, immersive environments, detailed storylines, and the amount of entertainment available beyond the haunts themselves in our 2025 review.

Opening night: September 25

Know Before You Go: Outdoor event with uneven terrain, free parking, food and drinks, roaming midway characters, gift shop, five-minute escape games available separately, closed-toe shoes recommended, may not be suitable for children under 12, and all 2026 admission tickets must be purchased online in advance. Sir Henry’s also has a new bag policy, so check it before visiting. Guests cannot enter the gates until their time slot opens.

The Horrorland Miami – Miami, Florida

The Horrorland Miami transforms Jungle Island into a full-scale Halloween destination rather than simply offering guests a single haunted house. For its seventh season, Horrorland is promising an even larger and more immersive event with six new haunted houses, scare zones, creepy games, themed food and cocktails, live entertainment, photo opportunities, and its high-energy circus show.

Everything is designed to make Horrorland an entire night out, with guests able to move between the haunted attractions and entertainment throughout the park. General admission includes access to the haunted houses, scare zones, and Circus of Terror, while Fast Pass and other upgraded ticket options are available for guests visiting on busier nights.

Opening night: September 10

Know Before You Go: Located at Jungle Island in Miami, themed food and cocktails, photo ops, games, Fast Pass available, gates open at 7 p.m., weekend nights are expected to be the busiest

Sounds of Screams – Miami, Florida

Sounds of Screams is brand new for 2026, and we’re putting it on our Must-See list because they’re promising something HUGE for Miami. Taking over the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center, this new Halloween amusement park is being built around four immersive haunted houses, roaming scare zones, a full carnival midway, rides, music, food, drinks, and entertainment, designed to make the event much more than a traditional haunted house visit.

The announced attractions include The Infected, which drops guests into the aftermath of a disastrous outbreak inside a sealed life-engineering laboratory; Mitos, which pulls inspiration from terrifying legends from across Latin America; Witch Trials of 1692, a journey into the Salem Witch Trials; and The SOS House, which is 18+ only. With multiple haunts, carnival rides, scare zones, bars, food, and a massive fairgrounds property to work with, Sounds of Screams is one of the biggest wild cards of Florida’s 2026 haunt season, and that’s exactly why we’re watching it.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando – Orlando, Florida

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida remains one of the biggest Halloween events anywhere in the country, combining massive movie-quality haunted houses with original concepts, major horror franchises, elaborate scare zones, themed food, entertainment, merchandise, and the production resources of Universal Orlando Resort.

For 2026, Halloween Horror Nights returns with 10 haunted houses, including new experiences inspired by properties such as Stranger Things 5, Sinners, Hellraiser, and Ozzy Osbourne, as well as original Universal concepts and a major showdown between the returning icons Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow. Whether you’re visiting primarily for the haunts, the horror franchises, the food, or simply the atmosphere of Universal Studios after dark, HHN remains one of Florida’s largest Halloween destinations!

Screams begin August 27th with the Halloween Horror Nights Premium Scream Night and opening night is August 28th

Know Before You Go: Separate-ticket event at Universal Studios Florida, multiple scare zones, huge crowds on peak nights, extensive themed food and merchandise, Express Pass options available, significant walking throughout the park, and advance planning is strongly recommended if you want to experience most or all of the houses in one night. The 2026 event runs through November 1.

Pemberton Haunted Acres – Plant City, Florida

Pemberton Haunted Acres started as a backyard haunt, but this Plant City attraction has grown into a full-fledged fear grounds with several different haunted environments built around its signature gritty, bloody, backwoods style. The haunt earned a 9.24/10 from our team in 2024, and the property has grown considerably beyond the small attraction it once was.

For 2026, Pemberton is featuring multiple attractions including Hillbilly Mayhem, Krow’s Revenge, Pine Hollow State Forest, and Valley View Hotel, giving guests everything from twisted backwoods killers and cursed farmland to a creature-infested forest and a hotel where checking out may not be an option. The event also offers photo ops, merchandise, food, and its own common areas, making Pemberton another Plant City destination where there’s more to do than a single walkthrough.

Opening night: September 25

Know Before You Go: Free parking, food, merchandise, photo ops, General Admission and Express tickets available, discounted group rates for 15+, courtyard gates open at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are strongly encouraged in advance because timed slots can sell out.

Fear Reach Scream Park – Tavares, Florida

Fear Reach Scream Park in Tavares combines multiple haunted attractions with one of the more relaxed and entertainment-heavy midways on this list. Built on a working U-Pick farm property, Fear Reach has traditionally mixed indoor haunted environments with outdoor scares while creating original stories for each attraction.

Fear Reach is currently revealing its 2026 haunted attractions, including Parasomnia, which takes guests into the nightmares surrounding Grimoire Manor. Between attractions, guests can hang out in the Fear Reach Midway for stage shows, merchandise, concessions, games, and live entertainment, or relax inside the macabre lounge with drinks and music from the attraction’s Halloween house band, The Dismembered. Our Scream Team scored Fear Reach an 8.61/10 in 2025.

Opening night: October 2nd

Know Before You Go: Free parking, wheelchair accessible, bar serving beer, wine and specialty drinks, live music, merchandise, games supporting nonprofit Dona Vista Arts, timed ticketing, and advance online tickets are recommended because time slots can sell out and box-office tickets cost more. Fright Nights at the South Florida Fairgrounds – West Palm Beach, Florida

Fright Nights at the South Florida Fairgrounds has been bringing large-scale Halloween scares to West Palm Beach for years, combining multiple haunted attractions with roaming characters, scare zones, midway entertainment, food, and the energy of a fairgrounds event. Rather than relying on the same attraction concepts every season, Fright Nights has become known for introducing new themes and scares each year.

The South Florida Fairgrounds gives the event room to create a much larger experience than a standalone haunted house, making it a good option for groups looking to spend an evening moving between haunts and other entertainment.

Opening night: October 8th – Will be hosting a behind the scenes on October 7th
