Cedar Point Halloweekends Review (2008)

Final Score: 8.2

There was a lot going on at the park in the way of attractions. On top of going through the attractions most of the rides are open to enjoy in the dark of night. If they continue to add attractions and actors year after year they will be unbeatable for the money you pay. We think it is great that this is a place you can take the whole family for a spooktacular time.

There are a lot of actors in all the attractions. The cast embraced their individual attraction and ran with the theme. They had everything from clowns to pirates to vampires to evil doctors. There is a wide variety of cast members and they all did a great job at scaring. We particularly enjoyed the individual who walks around in a black bird costume. It’s amazing!

All the costumes were very detail oriented. They look like nothing you would buy in a store. The make up was realistic and must have taken a lot of time to apply. There were very few masks throughout the attraction, but the ones that were used were very intricate. They did very well at matching the costume with the theme. The CarnEvil costumes were our favorite: Who would have thought there are so many different clown masks?

Everyone we talked to was very friendly and happy to help direct us to the next attraction. The lines moved quickly and they sent just the right amount of people through the attractions at a time.

Everything in the park screams “scary.” The props start the minute you pull into the park to pay. They have 2 hearses and skeleton scenes around every corner to get you in the mood. You even have a chance to take a picture in the caskets and buy them. All the themed attractions were done really well and gets your mind and heart racing for what’s to come.

Special Effects: 8.2

The special effects were great. Everything about them “screamed” scary and haunted. There could have been more animatronics, though. We only saw a few props that actual jump out at you. The actors are great, but the animated stuff is just as scary at times. People hiding behind walls that drop down were everywhere , but they still always scared at least one in every bunch

There were 8 different attractions, all with different themes. All of the attractions were rated kid friendly, except one, and even it was not that scary. This place is very kid friendly so if your little ones want to go to a haunted attraction, this is the one to take them to.

Scare Factor: 7.8

There were a few key effects that made these attractions great. At the end of some of the attractions there was a person hiding in an unsuspecting place that would give you one last scare. Unfortunately, some of the attractions were open so you could see the actor before you got there.
