Crazy Caretakers Haunted House Review (2025)

Haunted House (Single)

Final Score: 7.72

When we drove down a little side street and came across a building with a made-up graveyard in the front yard and a big sign that said Crazy Caretakers, we knew we were in the right place. As we walked up, we heard screams from outside and read several names on the gravestones filling the entire front yard. “Barry M Deep, he was a creep.” “Chucky,” “Leather Face,” “Blair Witch,” some unknowns, and so many more. If all of these bodies were assumed to be buried below the ground that we stood on, there is no telling what kind of crazy we were going to find hiding behind those walls.

Cast: 8.23

1. Did it seem like there were enough actors? (25% of score): 8

2. How creative, believable, convincing were they? (35% of score): 8.6

3. How interactive (verbally, physically) were the actors? (20% of score): 9.2

4. Was there a good variety of characters (behavior)? (20% of score): 6.9

Crazy doesn’t begin to cut it. Although we didn’t get a sneak peek at the cast with any queue actors, the actors on the inside gave us pure psychotic, and that’s a compliment. We started off our journey through this crazy house with a little boy who has mastered the jump scare. We ran into a few crazy rednecks. One redneck, who was bloodied up and made sounds unheard of, Camden, who demanded money for washers and dryers, and gave us a hard time about leaving until we would give him some sort of money. We finally told him inflation sucked, and he let us go through, not very willingly to say the least.

The cast of the night filled the rooms of this crazy house. There were a few rooms that lay bare, and we ran into some of the cast multiple times throughout our walkthrough. The ones we did interact with played their roles of crazy incredibly well and gave us hell in the meantime. Some gave us odd noises, some crazy banter, screams and jump scares, stalking, and quite a few odd interactions.

At the end of the night, this crazy family really rallied to give us a memorable experience. Until we meet again.

Costuming: 7.2

5. How complete, unique, detailed were the costumes, accessories? (35% of score): 6.9

6. Were the masks, makeup creative, detailed, realistic? (30% of score): 6.25

7. How appropriate were the costumes for the respective scenes, themes? (20% of score): 9

8. How believable-, detailed-looking were the queue actors? (See Note if N/A) (15% of score):

Early on in our adventure, we met Michael, a little cast member in a ripped-up, bloodied tux with dark circles around the eyes of his pale face. We ran into some rednecks, bloodied up and in overalls. A few clowns we ran into had the typical clown makeup with shaggy, colorful hair to match. Most of the cast members were in costume and makeup. We didn’t find many masks during our visit, but the one we encountered was a pig mask, and the character was dressed in a ripped flannel shirt and jeans. The cast seemed to fit in with each other, making it appear as if they were a family who truly allowed their craziness to show both inside and out.

Although the crazies on the inside matched their scenes and their parts, the queue area was left empty. Since this is their last year at this location, they would benefit from having a few queue actors to interact with patrons while they’re awaiting their inevitable shift from sanity when they reopen in the next few years.

Customer Service: 9.83

9. How easy was it to locate, park at, navigate the premises? (25% of score): 9.9

10. Safety (Only dock points for TRULY DANGEROUS hazards!) (30% of score): 9.5

11. How professional, helpful, friendly were the staff members? (25% of score): 10

12. How easy was it to find pertinent information before arrival? (20% of score): 10

Getting to our destination was as easy as typing an address into the GPS. The blue lights and the made-up graveyard out front made the destination obvious. However, parking was a bit confusing. We weren’t sure where to park and guessed that the cars across the street were where we should be, too.

The staff at the ticket booth answered all the questions we had, and the owner, Barry, was a friendly guy who happily made time to talk with us after our walkthrough. Everybody that we talked with was cordial and informative and seemed sane, which is the opposite of the insanity we experienced on the inside. Some of the ground we walked on was damp, and the wooden ramps felt wet, making us a little nervous as we walked on them. If we were to have run on one of them, it could have caused a slip and potential injury. Most of the haunt was outside. Despite the walls that surrounded us, the ground was all natural, so the wet and hazards were to be expected.

We found the information we needed on the Crazy Caretaker Haunted House Facebook page. Ticket prices, dates, and the location were clear and easy to find.

Immersion: 8.51

13. How well did the pre-haunt areas ("vibe") prepare you for the attraction/s? (25% of score): 9

14. How obvious, creative, believable was the storyline? (See Note if N/A) (20% of score): 8.5

16. How well did the "vibe" flow after, between the attraction/s? (15% of score): 7.75

The graveyard in front of the crazy house sets the tone. It was obvious that crazy lived here. As we walked up to grab our tickets, we heard the screams of previous victims and various noises that we would soon discover were from the cast of the night. We felt craziness before we entered the gates to the house that would test our sanity.

Although they didn’t give us an exact storyline, the name gives it away. It is a family and house of crazy, and they portrayed that very well. At some points, we felt like we were going crazy ourselves! Whether it was a member of the cast or figuring out how to get to the next room, crazy caretakers didn’t miss a beat on keeping us in the moment.

The end of our visit at this crazy house was met with a spike of adrenaline. We remained on edge for a good minute before walking back out into the graveyard, leaving the finale transition feeling a little off and not as crazy as the rest of our experience.

Special Effects: 7.3

17. How effective were the sound effects? (20% of score): 7

18. How realistic were the scene designs, details? (30% of score): 7.25

19. How effective, realistic were the props, animatronics? (30% of score): 8.4

20. How well did they use creative, special, sensory effects? (20% of score): 6

This haunt gave more of an old-school vibe. Less animatronics, more props and actors, and honestly, that helped keep us on our toes. We didn’t know what was coming around the corner or through the next door.

The sounds as we walked through came mainly from the actors, so there wasn’t any “dead” space in terms of sound. From weird sounds to yells, bangs, slams, and more, our ears didn’t feel a need for anything more. It made the experience exactly what it should have been.

Most of the areas that we walked through had designs that replicated rooms in a house, even though most of our experience was outdoors. Walls and doors surrounded us. We walked through a kitchen, a laundry room, hallways, some bedrooms, and more. The set was well thought out and well put together.

One room we walked into had some washers and dryers that were functional. The props were used well in that particular scene, ultimately creating one of the standout moments of the night. Sorry, we still don’t have your money…

The Scare Factor: 7

21. How scary was it? (35% of score): 6.5

22. How well did they provide scares to everyone in the group? (15% of score): 9

23. How predictable were the scares? (25% of score): 6.7

24. How well did they provide a wide variety (types) of scares? (10% of score): 5.7

25. How strong was the ending / finale? (15% of score): 7.5

Our sanity was tried and tested. We were tricked and caught off guard several times in the night. In some rooms, we would walk into multiple doors, try to open one, find a wall behind it, turn around, and a refrigerator would be open, ready for us to walk through! At one point, we thought for sure we were walking in circles! The crazies jumping out at us and using their tactics to make jumps and screams throughout each room became a repetitive play. This started giving us the feeling that we knew what was about to happen as we walked to the next room. Nonetheless, it did make us feel crazy, and I think that was the point! The finale of the night was not a typical chainsaw move that made Morgan feel like she tore her esophagus from screaming so loud.

Crazy Caretakers was a wild experience where we met people who tried to make us lose our sanity and turn into one of them ourselves. We will miss this crazy crew. Until next time.

Entertainment & Value: 6.83

26. How satisfied with the entertainment provided by the MAIN attraction/s? (50% of score): 8.65

27. How satisfied with OTHER entertainment INCLUDED with the ticket price? (25% of score): 0

28. How appropriate is/are the ticket price/s? (25% of score): 10

Crazy Caretakers took us exactly 10 minutes to walk through, with a case of the fear zoomies included. With the ticket price being only $10, the MPD is at 1, which is exactly what we like to see! This is not only a fun time, but a time well worth our money! It is one of the lower ticket prices we have encountered. Although they don’t have any activities besides the haunt itself, they have a welcoming staff and a crazy crew worth knowing.

This will be Crazy Caretaker’s last year at this location. With plans to rebuild at a new, unknown spot, they do not plan to reopen until at least the 2027 season. So, catch this crew before they go underground!
