Summary

Located right in the heart of downtown Pocatello, Idaho, lies Delirium. What started as a school fundraiser, Spook Alley, has slowly worked its way up to a full-fledged haunted experience, with over 70 actors and family-friendly chills for all. Now located in the dark basement of a very spooky, old office building, Delirium manages to find the right balance between moderate scariness and local community charm. Guests will encounter over 38 rooms on their journey and will experience a wide assortment of frightful characters, from iconic horror movies to, of course, killer clowns with chainsaws. Make sure to bring the… Read More…

Immersion6.79

Despite the whole walkthrough taking place in an old office building, Delirium does a decent job covering it all up and keeping the atmosphere strong. The walls and sets here mostly consist of tarps and sheets, but the haunt counters it by filling most of its rooms with props and creative gags. The campground scene was a particular standout, with a large assortment of trees, tents, hanging branches, and a very strong scent of pine all really helping set the mood. You won’t find a storyline here; the rooms just consist of random themes and scary props, from spiders to… Read More…

Special Effects7.49

Delirium strikes the right balance between animatronics and actors. There’s a wide variety here, between projections, water effects, and twitching props. Most of these animated characters are Spirit Halloween to Home Depot level, so while they aren’t incredibly impressive from a technical level, they are used effectively and are spread out evenly throughout the haunt. One animatronic of a skeleton jumping out of a trash can probably gave me the best fright of the night. The sound design and music were sparse and quaint, but that ended up adding to the atmosphere, as the quiet nature of some of these… Read More…

Characters7.75

Delirium’s greatest strength probably lies in its number of actors. There was never a dull scene or dead space, and even in the hallways where the actors weren’t visible, you could hear them moving behind the walls. As great as the volume of scare actors was, there wasn’t the most variety in the acting department. The costumes were all decent, with a good balance between makeup and masks, and they all fit the themes of their respective rooms. However, the constant screaming or just standing there silently staring did start to get a bit repetitive after a while. There was… Read More…

Scare Factor7.63

Delirium is a haunt that prides itself on being the perfect haunt for families. I think they succeed in that department; it just means you won’t be finding any nail-biting scares or overly gory scenes. There is still a decent number of startles here. There are a lot of very large rooms, some of which are filled with fog or packed with props, giving you so much to look at that it gives a lot of actors the perfect opportunity to sneak up on you. Most of these scares come from behind, which creates plenty of jumpy moments. The crowd-pleasing… Read More…

Value7.32

Delirium charges 16$ per person, which I’ll admit was a bit of a shock when I first arrived. On the surface, it’s a bit of a pricey entry fee for what’s inside (in this area), especially compared to some of the haunts in nearby cities. Where you really get your money’s worth here is in length; the haunt runs for about 20 minutes and feels longer than it is a lot of the time. There are a wide variety of rooms here; some are very wide open, some involve crawling around on the floor, and some are very tight hallways.… Read More…
