The Demon House opens their doors for their twenty-fifth season. Rumor is, the house is built on top of a burial ground that has been cursed by witches! This attraction offers you a lot of the mansion and the grounds on which it was built. Maybe you will encounter some paranormal activity during your stay?
We came for their opening weekend and were surprised by all the changes they made for this season. The Demon House offers one attraction, which is a continuous walkthrough. Make sure you wear the appropriate clothing and footwear as you’re both indoors and outdoors throughout the night.
At the beginning of our stay, we were greeted by a fortune teller who told us the rules of the attraction. When we went inside the beautiful mansion, Grandma was trying to serve us a plate of food. We really enjoyed the two butlers on the stairs who were bickering back and forth to each other. Upstairs in the house, there were a few possessed cast members that were contorting on top of a bed, growling, screaming, and snarling at us! We encountered a couple of plague mask doctors creeping around the dark hallways of the mansion.
While we made our way through the trail to another building, we were greeted by a doctor, a coal miner, and a few clowns. A voodoo witch greeted us and cast a spell on someone at the end of our stay.
A lot of the cast members played their roles very well and were very believable. At the end of the night, we counted a total of 25 cast members. A few of them had multiple roles, so they would come out and interact with the group multiple times.
The Demon House offers a variety of professional costumes and makeup throughout the attraction. We would like to give a round of applause to the makeup and costuming team for making the costumes and makeup look spectacular for the entire attraction. We really enjoyed seeing the different styles of costumes, and they stuck very well to the themes they were going for.
Inside the house, Grandma was wearing this very old, raggedy dress with a plate of food for us. Upstairs in the bedroom, the possessed girl on the bed had this very awesome back piece, which made it look like her back bones and muscles were popping out of her body! The Plague doctors had their spectacular plague masks on, and they were done very well.
As you make your way down Coyle Curtain Road, you can see a couple of lights in front of the Demon House’s sign. You need to drive past it to the Spartan Surgery Center. There is a small sign, so you may miss it. A shuttle bus with the Demon House’s logo on the back will pick you up at that location.
The staff here was actually very caring about how our night went. They were very professional and aware of everything taking place on the grounds. The owners, Chris and Veronica, were on the premises at the time of our visit. They were very caring and very professional with all of the customers they interacted with. It’s very nice seeing owners on the property caring about their staff and customers walking through.
The whole attraction was safe. The only thing we’d advise is to wear proper footwear, as a lot of the trail is gravel and there are some steep areas. Also, watch your step as there are a few areas where you have to go up and down. They had these areas lit up pretty well, so it was very easy to navigate. Lastly, we advise you to watch your head in the coal mine area. They don’t supply you with any professional protective equipment. Just watch your head. Even on the beams, they have written “Watch your head.”
While walking up the driveway to the ticket booth, we got a nice creepy feel with skeletons and other props that were well-lit. After getting tickets, the atmosphere died out somewhat, but that’s not a problem because you can either sit around the fire pit, watch a movie on their big screen TV (they play different movies every night), or go to their handcrafted merch shop.
There was no specific storyline for this haunted attraction but, every area was pretty obvious on what it was supposed to be. The outside theme, “Scary Book Forest,” was a brand new section they did this year, and it was done pretty well. However, there were a few sections that felt a bit empty, which took us out of the show a bit. But the chainsaw maniac sure made up for it!
The atmosphere was flowing pretty well throughout the night because we kept saying to ourselves, “What is going to happen next?” They did a pretty good job of keeping us in suspense.
When it comes to the sound, inside the house, there were a few speakers that could’ve been a little bit louder, but that’s okay. The cast members definitely made up for that portion. There were a few areas that were silent, but it really kept us in suspense.
The scene details were pretty well done. At the beginning of the house, there was a cauldron under the fireplace that had fog and lights coming out of it. Our favorite scene was when we were in the clown theme with a lot of blacklights that lit the walls up with “Ha Ha Ha” written on it a million times. Also, there were walls in that area that had splatter paint everywhere, which looked pretty cool. Overall, the lighting was done really well, especially when we were down in the coal mine portion.
Spoiler Alert: The finale of the haunt was a brilliant move. When the voodoo witch was doing her skit, the lights were flickering, and all of a sudden, fog blew up right next to the exit when she was trying to curse us!
21. How scary was it? (35% of score): 8

23. How predictable were the scares? (25% of score): 6.75
24. How well did they provide a wide variety (types) of scares? (10% of score): 7
25. How strong was the ending / finale? (15% of score): 8.5
Demon House did a very good job of scaring the front of our group. They also made an attempt to scare the back of the group as well.
The doctor who was trying to fix Charlie was a standout and made us pretty uncomfortable as he was in our faces, asking, “If he was a good doctor?” The scares were pretty predictable here, as we could see some of them coming in the distance. We really enjoyed it when we had to press this red button in a room, and it resulted in a special surprise. We have to say that this is something we’ve never seen before.
While the finale didn’t have us running and screaming out of there, the voodoo witch was very entertaining and very energetic.
Tickets are $25 on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, you can get tickets for $20 at the gate. They also offer Groupon codes all season long, and you can get a beverage with your ticket. They also offer the Demon House R.I.P. skip-the-line passes for $40.00 this season.
The Demon House offered some additional entertainment, too. One thing that’s super cool about this location is that you don’t have to wait in line! Instead, guests are given a number and can roam the midway area until their number is called! We wish more haunts could implement something like this!
While they didn’t have any roaming characters, while waiting, you can take advantage of photo opportunities with a few of the props on-site. If you don’t want to do that, you can sit by the fire pit with a snack or beverage, or you could go to their big screen and watch a horror movie that they supply. Other than that, you could always look at the merch booths.
It took us a total of 24 minutes to go through the attraction. This is almost $1 per minute, which is right about average. We can say that you definitely get your money’s worth here, where “Evil has a new home!”
