Summary:
It’s important to start this review by telling you that we did not come to Ghoul Brothers to review it, we came to see it. Ghoul Brothers is art. It is the haunted house that your favorite haunted house loves. We had heard good things, so we carved out time in our review schedule for this special treat; it was a brilliant choice. The front of this haunt may be a little unassuming, but the minute you step through the door, it’s time to widen your eyes and put your head on a swivel. There are no props in Ghoul Brothers; there is just a haunt. From floor to ceiling, every inch is horror, carefully placed, and thematically chosen. We were blown away and wanted to sing their praises. So, that’s how we ended up reviewing this mind-bending haunt.
In past years, Team Cleaverland of The Scare Factor has reviewed this world-class haunt. They’ll probably review it again in the future, but we might want to grab it from them on occasion as it is just that good.

Cast Review:
The monsters at Ghoul Brothers are running at 100%, and they do not slow down. We went through twice last night, and each time, they were at top energy. Every room had a new horror lurking inside the walls or waiting in the dark to lurch at you. One young woman stood so still that it was only on our second pass-through that some of us realized she was alive. A cannibal family taunted and followed us, and they cracked jokes that had us laughing until the next shock. We’re not sure which one was brotherdaddy or if it was us all along. The timing of these monsters was on point, and they made sure to hit different parts of the group from all angles. We’re hoping that if we are very nice and come back next year, we’ll be allowed to touch the dolls. From grotesque presentations of dirty diapers and roadkill indigestion to the smooth sass of the Admitting Nurse, and the southern sass of the Exit Zombie, every last one was fully in character and happy to scare.

Costuming Review:
The costumes in Ghoul Brothers are detailed and varied. We saw everything from classic makeup to modern prosthetics, and some creatures blended into the wall through their clothing until it was too late to flee from them. The Escaped Patient in the queue and the Admitting Nurse’s costumes set a high bar that continued to be cleared through the rest of the haunt. Many of the monsters were thematic to their scene, and the details here made everything work in harmony. We saw this, especially in the baby doll room where colors in the haunter’s costume balanced perfectly against the rows and rows of soulless dolls, making her seem a natural part of the scenery. Make-up, prosthetics, and masks were all done very well.

Customer Service Review:
The team at Ghoul Brothers were incredibly helpful and thoughtful from the word go. Signage is very clear, and there’s a lot of well-lit parking. The haunt is working with a Latin street corn truck and offers other concessions. We got to meet an awesome old-school artist and bought some prints and shirts. Safety is an obvious priority, but they’ve managed to keep this from breaking the immersion. We were especially impressed with how they worked designs into the floor to mark a ramp we approached. Their website lets you buy tickets and shares any information you might need before your visit.
Unless a guest is buying a fast pass on-site, there’s no reason to stop outside. Head right on in through the entrance door (or queue up in the line outside) to find the ticket booth.

Immersion Review:
Ghoul Brothers is intensely immersive. The moment you step inside, you’re met by dark details and grand visuals. Once you enter, you are in the haunt until you reach the end and exit. Sound effects are designed to keep you in their world, and there are everything from bespoke can labels to a custom metalhead jingle. We didn’t see any of the real world once we entered theirs.
Even the lovely entrance nurse helped to set the stage, reading off imaginary diagnoses from the blank backs of our tickets to let us know what was awaiting for each of us beyond her stern gaze.

Special FX Review:
This section of the review is difficult to put into words. There are so many things to see here at Ghoul Brothers, so many small details that should be praised and mentioned, but at the same time we don’t want to give anything away and spoil the fun of others.
Ghoul Brothers has put so much attention into the haunt that there is no way to see everything with only one pass-through. They’ve put so much work in that we found ourselves wandering the wrong way several times while enraptured with the bits and pieces. Cans and jars have in world labels applied for bio-meat and other irradiated goods. Egyptian-themed wall pieces trail around corners and along floors to transition into other areas. Sound effects are plentiful, but the coolest detail was the custom Mushroom Head Jingle for their in-world company. Bangs, screams, dangerous weapons, and tools all echoed around us. We saw a spell-binding light effect that slowed us down, and then we reeled away from some realistic and horrific scents. There was a projected video playing inside that haunts us still.
One thing that needs to be called out is there are set pieces you cannot see anywhere else, as they come directly from professional movie and television sets. Models from Jurassic Park 3, a kaiju heart from Pacific Rim, and more are amazing little Easter eggs and they’re woven into the house. However, if a guest spends all of their time looking for these movie-realistic props, they risk getting scared from behind by sneaky actors.

Scare Factor Review:
Screams were abundant in Ghoul Brothers. The groups we saw came running out of the exit, several being actively chased and were in total panic. There were some incredible distractions that took your eye the wrong way before the monster came out of the right one. Lurkers, screamers, and outright lunatics are abundant here, and every one of them is eager to scare you. Enthusiastic haunters mixed with artistically horrific scenes make for a very effective haunted house. The attic scene and the little theater experience were the two that got us the most, but we saw so many scary things and many scared people. There is thought and care here, and it’s visible in every tension-filled moment.
If attendees are lucky, they can arrive early in the evening to avoid a line and dive right in to the haunted world of the Ghoul Brothers.

E&V Review:
General admission tickets are $25 and there are a lot of deals for groups and families. If you’re coming with kids, they offer glow sticks that will warn off the monsters from being too intense. They’ve also let kids who decided they could do the walk without the glow sticks go back through to test their mettle. Ghoul Brothers is just as much a family haunt as it is an incredible fear fest. This is a unique and mind-blowing experience, and you need to give it a try.
