Darkwood Manor is a great experience. The actors are prevalent and on their A game. The scenes are beautiful and theatrical and paying attention to that allows them to get me. The queue actor was good and the line moves pretty fast. I also love that the exit / shop is kind of like a thrift store. This was our second year going and it is wonderful.

Suggestions for the Attraction: The only thing that could be improved is the parking. There is little parking at the location. We parked on the street up from the haunt this year and then I had to move immediately because it looked like residential parking and then the next lot was a little sketchy too but other patrons were there so I hoped I'd not get towed. It was a little bit of a trek to get to the haunt from there, but worked out.

Such drastic changes to the theme every single year, it's never the same story. You can really tell the amount of time and love poured into this haunt by the intricate level of detail in each and every scene. The masks/makeups (I couldn't tell which in some cases is some of the best I've seen in mid-atlantic haunts I've visited What really put my experience(s) over the top was the acting. In larger format haunts I've experienced actors doing next to nothing to interact with the guests, but Darkwood Manor is not guilty of this by any means. It's clear the entire cast is doing everything they can to entertain you.

No doubt this is the best haunt in VA! Every year they have a new dedicated story and the sets and actors are movie quality. Theres always something interesting outside while you're waiting in line and they have a couple other attractions as well. A fun house type thing and an escape room. We go every year at least once and it's a 2hr drive for us
