Over the past summer, we hosted our second annual nation-wide poll, where haunted house-goers could vote for their favorite “Must-See” haunted attractions in California. We’ve tallied the results and posted them here so you can find the biggest, best and scariest haunted houses in the State! #10: Albany Haunt Productions
Albany, CA
Albany Haunt is a charity “home haunt” that benefits the Alameda County Food Band. In addition, the attraction is themed differently each year! If you find yourself in the Oakland area this haunt season, then be sure to check them out and support the local community.
#9: Hobbs Grove Halloween Haunt
Sanger, CA
It is said that, from the time you enter the driveway of Hobb’s Grove, you will have entered into another world. With a less-scary midway and multiple scare-inducing haunted attractions, they offer something for everyone!
#8: Cemetarium Haunted House
Citrus Heights, CA
Cemetarium Haunted House is brought to you by Terror in the Night Productions. What once began as a “home haunt” is now a large, professional attraction! That is to say, their only mission is “to take away your reality and put [their] fear in you!”
#7: Californias Great America Halloween Haunt
Santa Clara, CA
Taking place at California’s Great America, this attraction typically has over 500 bloodthirsty creatures waiting to prey on you!
#6: The Queen Marys Dark Harbor
Long Beach, CA
Indeed, this haunted attraction takes place aboard The Queen Mary! But, that doesn’t stop them from truly terrifying their guests. In addition, they are resurrecting fear for 2017 and have many new sights to show their customers.
#5: Knotts Scary Farm
Buena Park, CA
When an attraction’s Facebook page has 163,000 fans, then it tells us there’s probably a very good reason why so many people follow them! It is said that more than 1,000 monsters roam the park nightly. Talk about crazy!
#4: DireWorld Scare Park
Roseville, CA
DireWorld Scare Park is, indeed, a world of dark fantasy and zombie western entertainment. Sounds unique, right? With 8 haunted attractions, live fire shows, and a VIP lounge,
it’s hard to contest that DireWorld has earned their spot among the top California haunted houses!
#3: ScareCo Haunted Attraction
Newark, CA
Formerly the USS Haunted Hornet, ScareCo Haunted Attraction will be reincarnated in a brand-new location for 2017! They will now be located in the Newark Plaza Shopping Center,
directly across from the Newark Mall. “Hey Newark, are YOU ready for a SCARY GOOD TIME?”
#2: Pirates of Emerson
Pleasanton, CA
Pirates of Emerson Haunted Themed Park, “the Bay Area’s Halloween Tradition,” is going into their 26th year of fear for 2017! With a strong foothold in the industry, this 5-acre compound can be found at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds. In addition, they offer 6 haunted attractions… all for one low price! Dead Entertainment Nightly helps spread the entertainment throughout the park.
#1: All Saints Lunatic Asylum Haunted Attraction
Apple Valley, CA
All Saints Lunatic Asylum lost its funding nearly 50 years ago and was forced to shut down. Despite that, the Asylum is now open to the public during the Halloween season and offers tours of the 6,000 square foot facility. Over 60 (volunteer )insane patients and staff are waiting for you here, so we are sure this attraction will keep you on your toes! “Don’t miss Southern California’s most innovative and terrifying haunted attraction experience!”
