I went to the Brackley Horror House this weekend, and it was honestly one of the most incredible and immersive experiences I’ve ever had. Every little... detail had been so carefully thought through from the eerie lighting and spine-tingling sound effects to the timing of the scares and the sheer commitment of every actor involved.
Now, I’ll admit straight away I absolutely hate clowns. So when Pennywise appeared, it felt like my worst nightmare had come to life. The figure slowly emerged from the smoke, moving with this eerie calmness, a red balloon in one hand. She walked right up to me, staring into my soul without saying a single word. Then, ever so slowly, she held out her other hand to my daughter offering Georgie’s paper boat, smeared in blood. Without a sound, she kept slowly disappeared back into the smoke, leaving us frozen to the spot. It was such a clever, haunting moment one I won’t forget anytime soon (and my daughter still refuses to let me throw that boat away!).
Another stand-out was the young girl who played the Exorcist absolutely phenomenal. Her performance was so realistic and unsettling, it genuinely felt like watching a scene straight from a horror movie.
There is too much to mention, I believe there were 16 themed rooms, and as it was a purpose built structure it made it even more eerie, how incredible is that!! The effort gone into it blows my mind!
And that’s not all, there were themed food trucks, live music, well stocked bar and a purpose-built stage with live music. Although after meeting the butcher, I can’t couldn’t bring myself to eat the hog roast.
What made the night even more special was knowing that everyone involved the actors, organisers, and crew did it all to raise money for Parkinson’s UK. The effort, creativity, and heart that went into every inch of the attraction was incredible, and everything ran so smoothly from start to finish.
The Brackley Horror House wasn’t just scary it was beautifully executed, terrifyingly immersive, and all for an amazing cause. I’ll definitely be back next year… though I’m not sure I’m ready to meet Pennywise again!Read More
