Summary

Haunted Hunt Club Farm kicked off its 38th season of Autumn Terror with the 2026 Festival of Fear. The property is a working farm in Virginia Beach, and the haunt turns it into four massive outdoor haunted attractions. It’s right on London Bridge Road and has long been the go-to haunt for Hampton Roads residents who want outdoor spooks under the open sky. The night we went, it was absolutely packed, with the grounds hosting anywhere from 4k to 5k people. The Festival of Fear has four full attractions: the Haunted Hayride, Cemetery of Souls, Forbidden Fields, and Village of… Read More…

Heavy Saturday traffic bottlenecked us right on London Bridge Road, leaving us crawling for over 30 minutes before we reached the farm gates. Once inside the grounds, efficiency took over; parking attendants swiftly directed vehicles using luminous batons. Planning our trip was simple, thanks to a thorough website that clearly detailed operating calendars, ticketing options, security procedures, and prohibited items. Well-lit signage and clear marker posts made it easy to navigate from the parking aisles to the ticketing gates. Midway atmosphere maintained steady energy between walkthroughs. In the central gathering hubs, families recharged with food and beverages from an array… Read More…

Towering entry gates and seasonal music drew guests in as they moved past the box office. Spooky sounds and ghoulish characters randomly traipsing throughout the farm built an ominous mood before anyone reached an attraction entryway. Each attraction’s original storyline draws on regional folklore and eerie farm life. On the Haunted Hayride, guests board wide tractor-drawn wagons and are hauled into the woods, where deranged backwoods families stalk them. Cemetery of Souls forces visitors to walk down an abandoned graveyard path, haunted by dim creature outlines and sudden startling scares. Forbidden Fields winds through large cornfields where Farmer John poisoned… Read More…

Special Effects8.6

Directional sounds carried immense weight across the entire property. Hayride speakers produced low-end rumbles, while hidden speakers inside Overgrowth delivered bone-chilling, throaty growls that made entire tour parties flinch before any actor appeared. Scenic environments were very well crafted. The shanties were weathered, the crypts decayed, the timber fencing fractured, and the corrugated tin overhangs properly aged rather than looking like cheap, flimsy plywood. The lighting was moody but not overdone, with the gravestones bathed in a pale green wash and Death Alley’s sharp angles lit with amber silhouettes. The strobes were used disorientingly in Death Alley’s corners. The animatronics… Read More…

Character diversity was shown in the different performance styles at each location. The scarecrows were completely still within the dry corn stalks before suddenly springing out. The apparitions were a completely different proposition, traversing along the dirt paths in disarray, with twitching movements. Some actors focused on verbal sparring, launching a barrage of threats and comebacks into guests’ conversations. The actors seemed well distributed throughout the woods and trails, with few unattended spots or corridors. Wardrobe showed attention to detail, featuring multi-layered, weathered farmer workwear, tattered cloaks, and dirty garments designed for each scene. Mask and cosmetic application, however, varied… Read More…

Scare Factor7.3

The startle delivery was strong, driven by creative positioning and experienced group targeting. Performers regularly let lead attendees pass unharmed, then launched ambushes into the center and tail end of each party. This broke guests’ false sense of security as they walked through the middle of a group. The hayride really caught us off guard with its random timing. The drivers would cut the tractor engines out of nowhere, leaving everyone sitting there in pitch-black silence right before a mob of monsters scrambled over the wooden railings from all sides. All four houses had incredible endings, too. They finished with… Read More…

Value9.4

Ticketing options include General Admission Unlimited Scream Wristbands, which sell for $ 40 and offer unlimited trips through all four attractions until closing time. Attendees seeking shorter wait times can add a VIP Fast Pass for priority access once per venue and cost $15 on weeknights and Sundays, rising to $25 on Saturdays. On-site parking is free with admission. The time you spend walking through the attraction justifies the entry price. The hayride plus all three of the walkthroughs equals 70 minutes of attraction entertainment. At $40, that’s 1.75 minutes of terror per dollar spent. Large attendance was the only… Read More…
