Cast Review:
Once we entered the haunt, the cast quickly sprang into action. The actors used their speed and creativeness to keep us on edge, appearing from every possible angle to deliver unexpected scares. While most relied on screams and quick hide and seek tactics, a few interacted directly with us, making it clear they were having fun playing with their roles. The intensity and frequency of their appearances made it feel as though they were everywhere, each actor fully maximizing their time with the audience.
Certain characters stood out for their dynamic presence, especially a trio of clowns who appeared and vanished with impressive speed, giving the scenes a dizzying, unpredictable vibe. In one instance, two clowns taunted us from within a caged area, playing off each other’s energy to heighten the feeling of confinement.
One particular character seemed to follow us, first crawling overhead, then leaping out from a laser bog, and, just when we thought we’d escaped, hammering the wall beside us for one last scare. In a dark section, an actor waited to startle us every time we took a wrong turn, moving around to keep us guessing until we exited the haunt. Their timing left us constantly on our toes.

Costuming Review:
The costumes in the haunt were well suited to their characters and helped bring the scenes to life. Each actor’s outfit fit the environment, whether it was the vibrant, blacklight clowns, or the maniacs in distressed white jumpsuits. One standout was a character in a grim reaper style robe that added a chilling presence to the darker section of the haunt.
The makeup, while simple, was effective and matched the overall feel of the attraction. It may not have been elaborate, but it certainly did the job of enhancing each character’s role and fitting into the atmosphere of the haunt. Overall, while the costuming and makeup were straightforward, they still contributed to the characters’ persona.

Immersion Review:
My Morbid Mind was tucked away in a quiet barn, adding a sense of isolation to our visit. Outside, the ambiance was understated but functional, with a chain link queue line and rock metal music. The lighting was minimal, focusing on the haunting sign that flickered as it shifted colors, and subtle indications of the entrance to each line.
As we made our way into the barn, we started to get a feel for what lay ahead. The cramped space and dark corridor created a sense of claustrophobia, as if we were about to step into an abandoned mine somewhere underground. The dimly lit atmosphere and creaky surroundings immediately pulled us in deeper.
Once inside the haunt, the pace picked up quickly. The focus was to keep us on edge, while actors popped out unexpectedly, demanding our full attention. There was not time to relax as we moved through each section, with the intensity building as we went. The entire experience had been a non-stop barrage of scares and surprises, leaving us feeling a bit disoriented, and eager to catch our breath.

Special FX Review:
One of the features of this haunt is the thought and care put into its design. While it leans more toward a low tech experience, there are a few key technical elements that enhance each scene, such as the clever use of lighting and lasers that help build atmosphere and depth.
The first section was painted with 3D blacklight reactive paint. The 3D effect and blacklight made the environment feel alive, especially with the design, allowing actors to appear from unexpected places, making sure no section ever feels safe.
As we continued deeper into the haunt, the layout made a distinct shift. A particularly memorable part had us crawling across a wavy floor that shifted underfoot, which, let’s just say, gave one of our group members second thoughts about their choice of footwear. We also found ourselves crawling under a grate, looking up to see an actor moving above us. As we climbed up a steep incline, we all screamed when the same actor, now on an elevated platform, lunged at us.
At another point, we had to crawl through narrow pathways that had us joking that we were Bruce Willis in Die Hard, but the confined space and low clearance definitely contributed to the overall unease.

Scare Factor Review:
From the moment we stepped into the haunt, the intensity of the scares never let up. It wasn’t just about actors yelling at us, but the constant barrage of surprises that kept us on edge. Whether it was a well-timed scare that had us all screaming in unison, or laughing at a team member who had been caught off guard, the actors kept us on high alert the entire time.
What set this haunt apart was the variety of ways the actors used the environment to catch us off guard. They weren’t confined to any one spot, instead taking full advantage of the layout to strike from unexpected places. The pace was relentless, and though there were moments where we could catch our breath, the tension never eased until we reached the very end.

E&V Review:
Our experience at My Morbid Mind was worth the ticket price. With general admission ranging from $22 to $25, the haunt delivered a 15 minute, high scare journey that made every dollar spent feel worthwhile. While there isn’t much to do beyond the haunt itself, the sheer quality of the scares and the effort put into the environment, made up for it. There were some places to capture a few photos, and haunt merch can be bought at the ticket booth, but it’s the haunt that stands out foremost.
We found My Morbid Mind to be an experience that is unforgettable, with its energetic cast and intuitive sets. The scares are immensely fun, and it’s clear that My Morbid Mind delivers a thrilling experience that stands out in our mind. We can’t wait to return next season for another round of screams!
