Was able to quickly catch glimpses of nice props/scenes/effects, but couldn’t get much “wow” factor from them since the actors tended to steal the show.

Mostly either “dark,” strobe-lit, or both… not much strategic, eerie lighting was noticed (when no actors were present) to enhance the detail of the scenes.

Scare Factor
How scary was it? 9.3
We entered every room with a feeling of dread from not knowing what was going to happen to us “this time.” Very rarely were we let down dissatisfied!
How well did they provide scares to the entire group?

9.75
How well did they use distractions? 8.7
The outside maze portion nailed it here because of how many chainsaw attackers were after us at the same time! We couldn’t make heads or tails of how many of who was where and what they were doing (yeah, exactly)! The interior rooms usually used either one or two actors at a time, but they didn’t usually play off one another, however, or use their surroundings to draw our attention away from where they came out from…. They’d just come charging at us, so we basically didn’t have time to be distracted because our attention was focused on them, each time.
How predictable were the scares? 9.25
We knew we were going to get SOMEthing in pretty much every room… we just didn’t know WHAT!
How many different types of scares were there? 9.75
Everything from creepy stares and stalking to all-out, chainsaw-two-inches-from-your-face swings and crawling on the ceiling… very talented and agile actors/actresses here!
How strong was the finale? 10
When you can’t crank it up any more, you get a score of 10. It’s THAT simple!! Being chased by a handful of the most intense chainsaw assailants we’ve seen to date that are Hell-bent on scaring the crap out of you is enough for us!
Scare Factor Score: 9.46
Entertainment & Value
How long did it take to go through the haunt(s)? 7.8
This question is scored on a defined curve based on the average scores given to various haunts for their respective lengths during the 2015 haunt season. A longer haunt duration will receive a higher score based on this curve and vice versa.
Was the entertainment provided worth the ticket price? 9.75
Be aware that The Hotel’s waiting line can be rather lengthy during the peak of haunt season. It’s not unheard of for their line to be several (2+) hours long on some nights, so this score may decrease for you if you’re forced to wait in an exceptionally-long line.
How effectively have they used their available space? 9.65
Entertainment & Value Score: 9.07

The Scare Factor is modifying its review criteria for 2018. This means that some of the questions above may be different from how they were worded when this attraction was reviewed. During this transition, we will be adding, editing, moving and removing some questions to/from various categories. This means that some of the individual questions and resulting scores may not contribute to the overall score for the category that it is listed under. These potential inaccuracies only apply to reviews that were written before the 2018 haunt season. However, the overall category scores and the attraction’s “Final Score” will remain accurate. In the long run, we feel that these changes will benefit our visitors and the attractions alike by allowing us to be more fair to a wider variety of venues. If you have any questions about our review criteria, contact us today and we’ll get in touch with you as soon as we can.
