Haunt Name: Woods of Terror
Review Team: Team Jefferson Starship
Review Date: September 16, 2017

Final Score: 9.1
Cast
Number of Cast Members Seen (not scored): 120
How believable were the actors? 8.7
Some interesting quips and statements. Some of them were little more than costumed screamers.
How interactive were the actors? 8.8
Fairway actors were super amazing and great at staying in character. Some of the actors in the haunt were not as quick-witted.
How well did the actors stay in character? 9.1
Most actors stayed in character though for some haunters the characters were rather flat.
How well did the actors work with their props and surroundings? 8.8
Standard props were used properly. There were a few fun ‘new’ props that we believe WoT constructed in-house.
Were there enough actors? 9.6
In some of the scenes/haunts the actors could have been spread out a bit more, but there were very few dead spaces.
How well did the actors use dialogue? 8
Some of the haunters did very good at maintaining dialogue and improvising, but a majority of them had no interaction beyond scripted screams and shouts.
How well did each of the characters fulfill their roles? Again, the fairway haunters were delightful. The haunters were always appropriate for their respective scenes.
9.6
Cast Score: 8.94

Some masks were over-sized, some had small damage, one mask was not tucked in.

Costuming
Were the costumes complete and believable? 8.7
Some standard bloody-shirt zombies. All costumes visible during the parade, sometimes less so in the individual haunts.
Was the makeup realistic? 8.7
Make-up was a mixed bag. The fairway actors tended to have great make-up, haunters further back in the scenes tended to have broad application/quick make-up jobs.

With 120+ haunters to get ready every night, this is understandable.

How authentic-looking were the costumes? 9
Everyone fit their scenes.
How appropriate were the costumes for their scenes? (i.e. Clowns don’t belong in graveyards) 10
Everything was recognizable.
How well did the costumes make sense for the characters wearing them? 9
Nothing was out of place.
If masks were used, how effective were they? 8.4
Costuming Score: 8.97
Customer Service
How well did they eliminate TRUE safety hazards? 9.7
The majority of places you’re walking are fairly well lit or a staff member is nearby with a flashlight.
How easy was it to find & navigate the attraction?

9.8
Lots of big clear signs. Google maps drops you in a subdivision next door because the haunt is set so far back from the road.
How professional, helpful, friendly & welcoming were the staff?

9.6
The fairway actors are great, there’s plenty of good music, concessions are a bit expensive, but there is a variety. Souvenirs are top notch.
How effective was the queue entertainment? 9.9
Some of the staff are just in haunt t-shirts and hard to distinguish from customers; security and parking crew are visibly marked.
Customer Service Score: 9.75

How easily could you tell you were at a haunted house? 9
Mainly rock music.
How well did they use music or sounds outside the attraction(s)? 9
Good signage, lots of staff.
Did the atmosphere outside help prepare you for what you experienced inside?

9
The Fairway did a great job of introducing characters.
Atmosphere Score: 9

How well were the scenes detailed? Did anything look out of place? 9.6
Nothing visibly out of place. Some scenes very dim. Lots of detail in the lit areas.
Did they have any impressive special effects? 9.4
Some fun rooms – clown, pirate, bus, jungle.
How well did the haunt use lighting? 8.1
Some amazing lighting in specific areas; other areas desperately needed more lighting.
Special Effects Score: 8.94
Theme
Could you tell what the haunt’s theme was? 9.6
12+ different mini-haunts. Separated by signs.
How well was the Theme executed? 9.4
Some mini-haunts were more recognizable than others. Some didn’t hold onto specific small themes and some were very narrow.

Everything seemed to belong in its proper place.
How creative/original is the theme?
This varied greatly but all were regular themes that you could expect to find in a haunted house.
Does the haunt’s location authenticate their theme(s)? 8.6
Since its a haunted trail, its location helps in some of the sets – dark trees, uneven ground – but less so in others.
Theme Score: 9.35

How scary was it? 8.8
How well did they provide scares to the entire group?

9.2
Actors did well interacting with the whole line.
How well did they use distractions? 8.9
Some areas had more than others. Some scenes didn’t lend well to the use of distractions.
How predictable were the scares? 8.8
Some standard scares and predictable jump scares; but all were implemented well.

There are a wide-variety of scares, though they tend to be re-used as the site is so large.

The end is unnerving to be sure, but didn’t have a large wow factor.
