Haunt Name: Six Flags Fright Fest NJ
Review Team: Team Scare Response Unit
Review Date: September 17, 2017

Final Score: 6.39
Cast
How believable were the actors? 6
Some, such as the yard inmate and the hillbilly family were very in-character and energetic. Others all just grunted or stared.
How interactive were the actors? 6
The killer clowns and one girl looking for a playmate proved to be interactive and used guest reactions to their advantage.
How well did the actors stay in character? 7
Many scaractors did their initial scare then just stopped and stared as you walked out.
How well did the actors work with their props and surroundings? 6.5
The killer clowns climbed their surroundings and used the environment to their advantage. Most other scares were just ground level jump outs that didn’t involve much more than a can of beans or a scream.
Were there enough actors? 5
A lot of missed opportunities due to understaffing or just out-of-place staff.
How well did the actors use dialogue? 6
The cannibalistic hillbillies all used dialogue that suited their characters, but again, most other scares were grunts and groans.
How well did each of the characters fulfill their roles? Not a large variety in roles, most scares were straightforward jump outs.

Cast Score: 6.07
Costuming
Were the costumes complete and believable? 7
Some costumes seemed thrown together, while others were very accurate.
Was the makeup realistic? 6
Some makeup was a bit exaggerated with extra colors or designs, and some was minimalstic and not too noticable.
How authentic-looking were the costumes? 7
Prisoners were in prison garb, and clowns were clowny. So yes?
How appropriate were the costumes for their scenes? (i.e. Clowns don’t belong in graveyards) 7.5
See Above
How well did the costumes make sense for the characters wearing them? 8
For the obvious ones, such as clowns in the circus and prisoners in a prison, yes. But we couldn’t tell much difference between zombies, mutants, and just crazed people. Which made it difficult to discern the themes in each haunt, since each was supposed to be different.
If masks were used, how effective were they? 7
Costuming Score: 7.08
Customer Service
How well did they eliminate TRUE safety hazards? 8
One swinging door animatronic almost clipped a guest in the face, but that was the only real hazard I noticed.
How easy was it to find & navigate the attraction?

7
Some haunts were a bit tricky to find after dark, but if you spotted a sign during the day, then they were easy to come across again later. Plus you can get a map.
How professional, helpful, friendly & welcoming were the staff?

8
Cell Block 6 gave decent line entertainment, but that was it. No other real line entertainment besides nearby roaming scaractors away from the queue.
How effective was the queue entertainment? 5
Security had reflective vests, medics were spotted around, normal staff was friendly.
Customer Service Score: 7
Atmosphere
How easily could you tell you were at a haunted house? 7
The park has eerie music or Halloween music playing.
How well did they use music or sounds outside the attraction(s)? 8
For each individual house it differed. Some were noticeably haunts, others were doors in a wall.
Did the atmosphere outside help prepare you for what you experienced inside?

8
Outdoor queues allowed moonlit skies and eerie music to permeate your waiting experience.
Atmosphere Score: 7.66
Special Effects
Were there enough sound effects used inside the attraction(s)? 6
Not many noticeable sound effects inside the haunts.
Were the sound effects effective/realistic? 6
When music was used, it was unsettling, or fun, which fit the scene. But no real sound cues or effects.
Were the sound effects appropriate for the scenes they were used in? 6
The few times they were used they were effective. Especially in Cell Block 6. But again, they were hardly used.
How creative/original were the special effects? 5
Nothing really stood out as creative. There was one coat rack ghoul that was new to me, but that’s it.
Were the special effects effective? 5
Some sfx were delayed, or went off with no one nearby to see them. Others went off and just got no reaction.
How well were the scenes detailed? Did anything look out of place? 6
Sets were not very detailed, but everything was pretty much in place.
Did they have any impressive special effects? 5
There were a select few sfx that stood out above the rest, but the rest was all pretty basic so it doesn’t say much for these few.
How well did the haunt use lighting? 7
Good use of 3D paint, but everything was kind of dim.
Special Effects Score: 5.75
Theme
Could you tell what the haunt’s theme was? 6
The theme for each haunt is outlined in the map, but without the map most haunts seem to be “look out. Ghoul!”
How well was the Theme executed? 6
Again, some captured the theme nicely, like Wicked Woods, while others were a jumble of jump scares.
Was there anything that didn’t belong? 8
Nothing really didnt belong in any haunt. Everything pretty much was in place.
How creative/original is the theme? 5
Zombies, clowns, mutants, all pretty standard haunt faire.
Does the haunt’s location authenticate their theme(s)? 8
The clowns were in the Midway, the Wicked Woods was along the woods, The Manor was indoors, so yes, they all met their exteriors.
Theme Score: 6.6
Scare Factor
How scary was it? 4
One scaractor startled me. One out of the 7 haunts. And in general I didn’t see many others getting scared.
How well did they provide scares to the entire group?

5
Most scares were at the front or the back. Mainly in the front. Middle rarely got much.
How well did they use distractions? 4
Distractions were used only a handful of times.
How predictable were the scares? 5
If a portrait looks like a fake, its probably gonna drop. If theres a wall, theres probably someone behind it.
How many different types of scares were there? 4
Jump out and groan, or can of beans scare.
How strong was the finale? 4
No real strong endings at all.
Scare Factor Score: 4.3
Entertainment & Value
How long did it take to go through the haunt(s)? 7
Each haunt was only a few minutes long, between 5-10 minutes.
Was the entertainment provided worth the ticket price? 6
We didn’t get to see any shows, but with 7 haunts and multiple shows to choose from, you do get a lot of stuff for the price. Dunno about the quality of the “stuff,” but you get a lot.
How effectively have they used their available space? 7
They placed haunts in appropriate spots, and made decent use of the space provided.
Entertainment & Value Score: 6.66
