Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail did not hesitate to pull out all the stops for this year’s Halloween season 2025! With a newly built and completely brand new indoor haunted maze, which immerses you into an entirely deranged and downright terrifying Asylum, named Ravensgate Asylum. There are two more haunted mazes that will certainly send shivers down your spine- City of Slaughter and Skinwalkers Hex. The tried-and-true classic haunted hayride has also returned for another year, with its own GhostTown facade entrance gate greeting you as you enter, straight out of an old Western movie. You will jump aboard the Legends of Halloween Haunted Hayride, where you will ride along through the dark woods, as you watch ghoulishly terrifying stories come to life right before your eyes! This is the only haunted hayride in the area!
Sir Henry’s does a fantastic job of bringing you new stories and back lore as you walk through the mazes. This year’s mazes are all entirely brand-new stories to fully immerse yourself into:
Ravensgate Asylum- In the early 1900s, there was not enough room for all the prisoners to be locked up, so they would arrange for many to go to a local Asylum that had a particularly deranged Doctor. The Doctor soon found many victims at his disposal to perform experiments on- not realizing that his experiments were only making the patients worse, and more evil. In the process, the Doctor also went mad and became the very evil he created in his patients. Will you survive walking through the Asylum?
City of Slaughter- A prominent factory leader has taken up residence in an early 20th Century Borough of Chicago, full of crime and corruption. Here, the meat factory owner has killed numerous victims throughout the city and has found a way to dispose of them inside his very own factory. His thirst for blood has allowed him to pay off all the cops around the area and continue to wreak havoc on the streets surrounding him, taking victims one by one. Can you escape Bill the Butcher?
Skinwalkers Hex- Following the events that occurred last year in the Deadwood Mines, a new company has moved in to take over the territory. Rumors start to spread about shapeshifting demons lurking in the shadows, miners go missing, and animals change into Ghoulish forms. However, the greed for gold is too extreme, and the miners continue to go deeper into the mine. Until they are not seen again… are you going to make it out?
Legends of Halloween Haunted Hayride- Beatrice, a wicked witch of Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail, raised these creatures in the Boggy Meadow to do her evil deeds. Once she passed, they disappeared from the realms. With her resurrection, the ghouls have come back to haunt these woods again. Beatrice will stop at nothing to stop those from trespassing in her spooky forest.
Sir Henry’s is a favorite in Central Florida each season, and for a good reason! Not only are there haunted mazes and a hayride, but there are also two different escape rooms to enjoy when you are not screaming through the trails. They also have a newly built Swag Shop that houses all their merchandise, like T-shirts, pins, and hoodies. There was a lot of handmade jewelry from various artists showcased in the shop, as well as homemade salsas and even more goodies you will have to check out for yourself when you visit.
There are always food/drink vendors, usually a BBQ, lemonade & corndog vendor, as well as a snack booth, so you can quench your thirst or appetite while you are there. And for those who are interested in adult beverages, there is a small bar serving brews on site.
The cast at Sir Henry’s certainly knows how to elevate your fears. Once you enter the gates, you are immediately greeted by creatures and ghouls lurking all around the Midway area, scaring you as you decide which trail you want to enter first.
Skinwalker Hex was our first haunted trail, and the actors did not disappoint. The first townsperson we encountered when entering the trail made sure we were aware of what was lurking ahead of us- she did not hesitate to shake us up a little on the way into the rest of the town, while warning us of the Skinwalkers ahead. The Skinwalkers in the mines eerily crawled up to our legs as we walked deeper into the mine, startling us from their dark lurking corners.
In the City of Slaughter, there was one actor who could have portrayed Billy the Butcher, but claimed he was only a worker in the factory. He appeared throughout most of the trail, popping out and startling us with his evil laughter, maniacal speech, and bloody clothing. Once we entered the meat factory, the costumes got much more gruesome, and the scares just kept coming!
The final trail would be none other than Ravensgate Asylum, where the scares from deranged patients, nurses, and the Doctor never stopped! The interaction in this one was fantastic- the lines they spoke were fresh and not the same redundant scares we hear in a haunted trail.
Sir Henry’s always amazes us with a different story and lore for each trail. And over the years, they have introduced many new characters that they have imagined. This year was no different, with many returning ghouls and witches, like Beatrice, but there were also many new ones that have been conjured up.
The costumes in Ravensgate Asylum were done well; it was like you were actually wandering through a dilapidated asylum full of decay and evil. The doctor and nurse’s cloaks, the grime, blood, and dirt from head to toe, really immerse you into the experience as you wander the halls of pure evil. The padded room was a fantastic touch, especially with its hidden monster!
Legends of Halloween hayride had so many different scenarios, each one being unique, with the costumes matching the scenes they were in. My favorite had to be the Frankenstein scene, Victoria Frankenstein shocking us with her experiments, while watching a full-size Frankenstein monster come to life off the table, ready to launch at our hayride! It was like being in the Lab ourselves, watching Ygor performing tasks all around us! It was always a great addition to have the Headless Horseman join our hayride for a brief moment; just seeing that headless figure looming in the foggy lights adds an extra bit of chilliness to the adventure we were on.
The use of special effects in the costumes was also a nice added touch, particularly with the welding torch used by the one scare actor. Not only was it visually appealing to see the sparks fly when he scratched his glove with the torch, but it was a great addition to his costume, adding an eerie feeling while he lurked in the dark shadows, while all you saw were some sparks igniting as you walked by.
The staff at Sir Henry’s have always been extremely polite and always willing to help when needed. Parking is available onsite and is always free- there will be an attendant who will help you find a parking space once you enter the property. They do a great job at lighting the parking areas for security, as well. The haunt location itself is located just off Interstate 4, centrally located between Orlando and Tampa, in Plant City, FL. Depending on traffic, it is around an hour from Orlando.
The trails and Midway are all outdoors, so it is best to wear closed-toe shoes and prepare for bugs (if it’s a hot night).
Sir Henry’s has their own website, where you can find all the trail names and their background lore for the season. This is also where you will purchase tickets in advance, as they are not sold at the gate. There is a new bag policy as well; check out the website for more information regarding this.
Sir Henry’s goes out of their way to ensure that guests are immersed from the second they enter the gates. The first thing you see is the amazing Midway, complete with a centerpiece haunted house surrounded by gravestones and ghouls lurking in the fog. Scare actors roam the Midway grounds as you hang out and shop at the merch booth or grab a bite to eat. There are even scare actors throughout the trail queues, spooking you before you even get inside the trails!
The most immersive trail had to be Ravesgate Asylum, which was newly built this year, and allowed you to truly feel like you were a wandering patient through the decaying asylum walls, trying to stay out of the evil Doctors’ grasp. All your senses will be intrigued as there are sound effects, smells, feelings, and sights to terrify you throughout! The most immersive room was the padded room- I won’t leave any spoilers, but this one got me good!
City of Slaughter also plays with your senses as you wander the crime-ridden streets and into the rotting meat factory- the smells are like nothing you can imagine! Truly allowing you to be immersed in the story, as you hear victims screaming, you can see and smell the death along the way. The facades of each of the trails were a great way to get you enticed before entering the trails. I was happy to see that the facade of City of Slaughter received an upgrade to match the theme of this year’s trail.
Skinwalker’s Hex has a beautifully immersive scene with skulls lining the walls, as water pours over them, creating the feeling of dread as you enter, hearing the water dropping all around you. This is when you realize you’ve entered a darker, more evil part of the Mine, complete with a miner hanging up above with an axe in his head!
The Special FX had an upgrade this year from previous years. We noticed much more sounds, lighting, and smells. The smells of decay in the City of Slaughter and even in the Asylum added to that intensity you feel when wandering the trail. There was even the use of flash bang fireworks in Skinwalkers Hex that shocked me to my core as I walked by! I was so not ready for that one!
The hayride had a great use of special fx as well, with the lighting and fog. The Frankenstein scene was top-notch, with the electrical wires all around flashing and sparking, as Frankenstein wakes up.
We also noticed new gore added to the walls in many areas, increasing the creep factor. Ravensgate Asylum had a ton of new special effects, lighting effects, and air blasts. There was even a drop window picture frame that we were not expecting, with a fantastic scare behind it! The whole effect brought such a chilling vibe to the experience.
21. How scary was it? (35% of score): 7.88
22. How well did they provide scares to everyone in the group? (15% of score): 8.5
23. How predictable were the scares? (25% of score): 8.31
24. How well did they provide a wide variety (types) of scares? (10% of score): 8.38
25. How strong was the ending / finale? (15% of score): 8.5
Throughout each trail and the haunted hayride, the scares kept coming- some a little more than others, but that did not stop the fact that each trail had a new storyline that we got to experience, and to survive! Overall, the trails themselves provided a factor of fear, as you walk through dark corridors and enter unknown territory, you just never know when someone is going to pop out and scare you! They could be at your feet, or behind a door, or just lurking in the dark shadows.
The cast provided multiple different scares throughout each trail, and they managed to scare everyone in our party without leaving anyone out. I am hoping that the Skinwalkers Hex trail will be upgraded for next year, but will keep a lot of its components still intact. I feel that trail has spectacular imagery and could become another eerie storyline that does not have to do with the Mines again.
The Haunted Hayride is a great addition to the trails because it offers time to sit down and watch the scares, instead of walking through them. The actors come aboard the hayride and provide added scares, bringing in that immersive aspect to the hayride, rather than if they were to remain at their scenes.
Overall, our Scare Factor ratings for the trails were:
Ravensgate Asylum: 8.81
City of Slaughter: 8.45
Legends of Halloween Haunted Hayride: 8
Skinwalkers Hex: 7.63
