The Haunted Farm is based on a story about the Watson family, who owned a farm during the depression. This is a great haunted attraction that jut keeps going with a barn, maze and hayride that just never seems to end. With a wonderful cast and a delightful owner, it is one of the best we have seen this year. Just remember, if the weather is rainy, do not wear good clothes or sneakers because they will get very muddy.
The cast at the haunted farm is one of a kind and truly amazing. Kim, the owner, is the nicest person and also plays a role in her own haunt. There are usually 52 volunteers that help make this attraction creepy. Most of them work for free but some that are in the FFA get their camp paid for, which is exciting. All the actors design their characters and write their own scripts. They all do a wonderful job and make their scenes realistic. We were really impressed with the young ladies in this haunt with the ear-piercing screams, which they do four night a week, all night long. Another one of our group’s favorites is the farmer’s daughter who is lost in the corn maze and wants to play.

The costuming is well done at this attraction. There are not very many masks, which helps it be more original. The costumes help create the theme and makes this a better haunt. With each actor getting to invent their own character, they are all different and the costumes help them transform their ideas into reality. It is neat to take a look at all the things they come up with.

The haunted farm does a great job in this area. They offer surveys at the end so you can give them instant feedback. They assured us they go through every survey and look at every suggestion. Their staff is super friendly and very helpful. They are around everywhere so no matter where a problem might occur, there will be someone around to help. Exits are clearly marked and they have plans in place for an emergency. They also have a history this haunt is based on that you can read online. The line can get long but there is a bonfire, concessions, a store and much more. While you wait, an actor may be out to give you an early fright. We would have liked to have seen more signs to help find the haunt instead of only signs when you get in the immediate area. Rainy weekends can get really messy, too!

Once you get out of your car you start feeling chills. By the time you make it to the ticket counter you know it’s going to be good and scary. Just being way out in the dark woods is spooky enough, but the decor in all three parts of this attraction make it even better.

The Haunted Farm has many effects that are spread out among the three parts of the attraction. Some are very basic and some are intricate. All of them work well together to create a great experience. Some of the volunteers even go to classes in the summer to learn how to implement their own ideas, which we think is wonderful.

Haunted Farm has a wonderful theme about a wealthy family of farmers and what happens when the depression hits and their luck turns. The people in town start coming up missing and the family’s farm starts to flourish once more. Then the family disappears before the remains of the town members are found. This haunt follows its theme throughout the barn, the corn maze and the hayride–everything deals with the creepy farm and the people. They do a great job executing details of the theme throughout the haunt. If you want to visit a haunt with a great theme, this is your place.
