Summary

Way out in the middle of nowhere, Idaho(AKA Madison County), lies the Rexburg Straw Maze and Haunted Forest. Boasting a frightening walkthrough and a family-friendly straw maze, along with various farm activities and play zones, there is no shortage of fun to be had here. The star of the show here is definitely the aforementioned haunted forest. Guests will embark on a long journey through the woods and, along the way, will encounter many unique characters and scares, such as scarecrows, gravediggers, and, of course, clowns with chainsaws.

Guest Experience8.85

Arrival at the Rexburg Straw Maze was a bit of a journey, as it is located pretty far out in the ding weeds. Upon arriving, though, it was pretty clear where it was. Parking was easy, and navigating the property was no trouble at all. The staff was all friendly, and the crowds were low. The plaza also boasted a wide variety of activities and food.

Overall, the whole experience had a very laid-back, family-owned feel, which was nice. The other popular activity here was the Straw Maze, which, from the looks of it, seemed quite massive.

Immersion6.68

The Haunted Forest is a very unique haunt, as you basically walk about five minutes away from the main plaza and the straw maze to a patch of trees in the back of the property. The overall “forest” is quite small, but the haunt effectively weaves through the trees and the layout in a way that makes it last. Upon exiting the forest, there was a very bumpy walk alongside the river that took you to the final section of the haunt, a walk through a spooky corn maze. Overall, the haunt is very atmospheric in the sense that you… Read More…

Special Effects7.31

There are very few animatronics here in the Haunted Forest. Occasionally, you’ll come across a 10-foot skeleton or scarecrow from Home Depot, but other than that, you won’t find a ton of animated characters inside. Instead, the star of the show here is with the lighting. A lot of the time, the lighting mostly consists of flame lights and small strobes in the trees, but they are very effectively placed in the woods and add a very atmospheric tone to the experience.

Characters8.27

The Haunted Forest’s greatest strength lies in its actors. The costumes and designs are nothing too crazy, but the actors themselves are having a blast, and it shows. There was a great balance between jump scares and interaction, and almost every actor I came across had a unique personality.

Scare Factor7.12

The scares at the haunted forest can definitely vary. There are some solid jumps in the corn maze area and in the forest area, with the heavily wooded and overgrown nature of the walkthrough providing lots of great hiding spots. In between the scares, however, there can be a lot of dead spaces. At first, the dead spaces do a great job building tension, because you don’t know where the next scare will come from, but as the haunt goes on, it can get a little predictable. The finale was particularly interesting. Instead of a loud chainsaw chasing you out,… Read More…

Value8.44

At 20$, I would say the Haunted Forest ends up being overall worth the money. If you were to compare the price to other haunts in surrounding states, it would seem a little steep, but in eastern Idaho, where there isn’t a ton of competition in the greater Tetons area, it’s a pretty solid price of admission, especially for how long the haunt takes. Overall, I would say the Haunted Forest would be a valid choice for a night out with friends or family who are looking for a more laid-back and easygoing haunt experience. We also timed it at… Read More…
