TSF Insights:

What Enthusiasts Need to Know

For the adrenaline junkies and the haunt critics, Universal Destinations & Experiences is promising a highly detailed, six-zone takeover set in an abandoned production warehouse. Here is how Universal plans to break down the outbreak, and what to look out for:

  • Zone 1 – Arrival: Guests are greeted by flashing emergency lights, police scrambling, and a battered “Welcome to Raccoon City” sign.

  • Zone 2 – Mission: You arrive at the Raccoon City Police Department to solve a series of interactive puzzles. (TSF Note: Interactive puzzles are notorious for causing bottlenecks and conga lines if they’re inside the attractions. We will be watching to see how Universal manages their batching here).

  • Zone 3 – Infection: Guests enter a quarantined spot where citizens have mutated into ravenous, flesh-eating zombies. Expect to see familiar faces amidst the chaos, including the infamous Ada Wong!

  • Zone 4 – Combat: This zone promises epic battles alongside iconic heroes like Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Leon S. Kennedy as they fight off zombies and notorious villains.

  • Zone 5 – Escape: The final stretch where guests must survive a final mission.

  • Zone 6 – Aftermath: Those who survive can step inside the Umbrella Corporation to purchase themed food and drinks.

  • Constant Threat: Universal warns that you never know who might emerge from around the corner while dining.

Universal Horror Unleashed is the first-ever, year-round horror entertainment experience from the masters of horror at Universal. While the Resident Evil experience is a limited summer run, the venue itself houses four other film-quality haunted mazes and themed bars serving craft cocktails.

Will the interactive elements result in a dreaded conga line, or will Universal’s massive budget deliver a masterclass in throughput and set design?
