Summary:
A sprawling, forsaken scare trail, Yorkshire Scare Grounds Scream Park Presents Face Your Fears has created a macabre and twisted journey into the heart of your fears. With a massive location and themed scenes, this is haunting at its best. The trail itself, whilst contiguous, contains four distinct experiences: Die Glocke (a long-lost war experiment reappears, unleashing a dark force that turns its victims into savage killers), Whitechapel Un-Dead (in the grim streets of London a new terror arises as the dead emerge from their graves), Krampus Rewrapped (unleashing seasonal terror), and Asylum Haunted Hallways (dare you confront the legends of the supernatural that haunt these haunted halls?). It also includes three connecting zones – Carnival of Carnage, Toxic, and The Harvest – which draw the horrors together with the deftness of a mad surgeon’s scalpel.

Cast Review:
The cast this year was well-populated, ensuring that every area felt alive and immersive, with fewer empty spaces than we’ve noticed in previous years. In Whitechapel Un-Dead, the hunched-over zombie relentlessly attacked us, creating an intense and memorable experience. The Whitechapel Un-Dead cast in particular maintained a high-energy, aggressive presence that kept us on our toes.
The Harvest zone actors dressed as corn men were particularly ominous, while those in the woods expertly timed their scares, catching us off guard. Die Glock was packed with an astonishing number of actors who were highly interactive!.
To top it off, the clown roaming actors at the end of the trail were exceptionally engaging, continuing to pursue passersby with chainsaws even after the final scare, ensuring the thrills lasted well beyond the main event.
The actors were well-coordinated via inconspicuous earpieces, which enhanced the scare factor by allowing them to expect guests’ movements without the distraction of noisy radio signals.

Costuming Review:
Each area featured decidedly crafted characters, including the ominous presence of Krampus himself, who wore an extreme, lifelike costume, alongside his helpers adorned with unique masks (we also noticed characters dressed as plague doctors, which was an unusual choice for a holiday-themed haunt). The Victorian figures in Whitechapel Un-Dead were genuinely dressed and showcased an impressive range of zombie makeup. In Asylum Haunted Hallways, one inmate sported a cage around his head: a brilliantly creepy feat of costuming. Several of the greeters had excellent costumes, including a gremlin who initially inducted us and was entirely interactive. While we missed Lord Fear (entirely our own fault for arriving early), we enjoyed some engaging interactions with Lady Fear.

Customer Service Review:
From start to finish, the customer service at the scare grounds was exceptional. The goblin/gremlin greeter at the entrance welcomed each group with personalised interactions, successfully managing line flow while making everyone feel special. The front desk staff, dressed in regular attire, were courteous and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our visit was enjoyable. Their efforts truthfully enhanced the entire experience! Each aspect of the experience was conducted with care and safety in mind, even over such a vast territory of immersion.
We faced no difficulties in locating and parking at the attraction and their website listed all important information clearly and comprehensively.

Immersion Review:
The queue was themed to enhance the attraction’s atmosphere with a soundscape and featured costumed greeters, including Lord and Lady Fear. Each segment began with a high-quality, cinematic video introduction that intelligibly set the stage for what was to come – and gave you any needed context to understand the narrative within.
The levels of immersion were impressive, as all the sets were specially constructed for the attraction. Die Glock, in particular, was complexly themed and featured an endless barrel maze that kept us engaged. The wooded segments steadily gave the sense that we were being watched, heightening the suspense. In Whitechapel Un-Dead, especially, you felt like a haunted borough in London, capturing the eerie essence superbly.
While we experienced some slight delays upon entering Krampus’s lair due to its indoor setting and smaller scale, it didn’t detract from the experience. Between each segment, there was always something to keep us immersed—there was never a moment where we felt disconnected from the atmosphere. Even as we were funnelled back into the more lighthearted and fun area at the end, the eerie ambience of the scare grounds lingered, showcasing their exceptional attention to detail.

Special FX Review:
Each segment featured a distinct soundscape that immersed us in its unique world, enhanced by the use of many air cannons! The Asylum maze relied heavily on old-school animatronics and clever pneumatic dummies for effective jump scares. In The Harvest, we were met with a surprising spray of water as the corn men attacked! One part in Toxic even had us “disinfected” as we passed through a smoke hut which had an impenetrably dense fog within, further enhancing the immersive experience.
The graveyard set in Whitechapel Un-Dead, had atmospheric fog rolling around, creating an evocative and beautiful ambiance that was particularly memorable. In the Asylum, the bloody, fetid bathroom was unsettling not just to see, but to smell as well – it really was horrific.
The pneumatic lift in Krampus Rewrapped delivered a thrilling jolt that kept us on edge, while the chainsaw at the end made direct contact with us (yes, right on our shoes!), intensifying the sense of vibrating terror. The special effects were skillfully executed, making each moment deadly.

Scare Factor Review:
This is a terrifying experience that had us jumping and jolting many times in rapid succession, making it feel as though we were in a constant state of fright. The outdoor trails contributed to the scares, as the darkness allowed the actors to stalk us, enhancing the sense of being gone after.
When a scare occurred, the actors often continued to follow and harass us, prolonging the intensity and impact of the fright. The scares were not limited to jump scares; there were also subtle, looming threats, unexpected animatronics that seemed to spring to life, and props placed in original positions that served as misdirection, leading us to believe we were safe only to be surprised from another direction.
Even though we anticipated the chainsaw finale featuring the deranged characters, it remained frightening as we were flocked into a cage and then chased into the food concession zone. This finale provided a clear conclusion to the experience, rather than dropping us back to where we started, leaving us with a lasting sense of exhilaration and terror.

E&V Review:
We were really impressed with the entertainment provided, as the experience offered a solid 34 minutes of relentless, adrenaline-pumping frights for a decent price. Once outside, we enjoyed a variety of food and merchandise stalls, along with freaky portrait photo opportunities. Live creatures, including werewolves and vampires, performed on stage to a range of tunes, adding to the freaky atmosphere. There was also a nice covered area where we could relax and enjoy our food and drinks.
The event features a core ensemble of characters, which were prominently displayed on posters throughout the park. This thoughtful presentation adds to the narrative consistency, stepping up the experience and making it feel cohesive and immersive.
