Looking for haunted attractions to add to your Ohio Halloween plans? We’ve put together 10 Must-See Haunted Attractions in Ohio for 2026 to help you discover some places we think haunt fans should have on their radar this season.
Our Must-See selections may include attractions we’ve reviewed, visited, or filmed, along with other haunts that stand out for what they offer, their popularity among haunt fans, or other reasons we think they’re worth checking out.
This is not a ranking or a “10 best” list, and these certainly aren’t the only haunts in Ohio worth visiting. Think of this as a starting point for building your haunt list. There are plenty more attractions throughout Ohio waiting to be discovered! This list is in no particular order.
So, where will you scream first?
Face Your Fears Hotel of Terror – Springfield, Ohio
Face Your Fears Hotel of Terror sits tucked away in the cornfields outside Springfield, where a weathered 200+ year-old farmhouse, dark rural surroundings, and an extremely aggressive cast combine to create one of Ohio’s most intense haunted experiences. This is not a haunt that relies on simply jumping out and yelling. Guests can be surrounded, separated, chased, cornered, and pulled directly into scenes, especially if they choose the optional touch experience.
During our 2025 visit, Face Your Fears earned a 9.37/10 and delivered the highest Scare Factor score of any Ohio attraction our teams reviewed last season. Its gritty environments, committed characters, relentless pacing, and willingness to make the experience personal helped make it one of the most memorable stops of the year during our visit!

Fear Columbus – Columbus, Ohio
Fear Columbus has quickly grown into one of the state’s most elaborate modern haunted attractions, using cinematic sets, professional lighting, and sound to create several radically different nightmares under one roof. During our 2025 visit, the attraction had expanded to three experiences and earned a 9.31/10 from Team Cleaverland!
For 2026, all three attractions are changing again! The new lineup includes Shadow Pines, where a once-peaceful family campground has been overtaken by rituals, feral survivors, and something awakened in the surrounding woods, along with an updated Dearly Departed storyline and Oddballs – Show Stopper. The willingness to rebuild major sections rather than simply reopening last year’s show is a big part of what makes Fear Columbus worth revisiting.

Know Before You Go: Tickets are online only and nights can sell out in advance, free paved parking is available on-site, timed admission is used, Fast Pass and Immediate Access upgrades are available, and the attraction operates rain or shine. Large gift shop, photo ops, and more!

Nightmare Cleveland Haunted House – Cleveland, Ohio
Nightmare Cleveland Haunted House is one of Ohio’s newer major attractions, created by the team behind Chippewa Lake Slaughterhouse and built around the sinister experiments of Bioteck Industries. The fully indoor experience leans heavily into immersive storytelling, cinematic environments, disturbing medical and biological themes, detailed costumes, and high-intensity actors who make the facility feel increasingly out of control as guests descend deeper inside.
During our 2025 visit, Bioteck’s experiments had resulted in a containment breach that led to the rapid spread of plant life and mutated creatures. The attraction earned a 9.26/10 and also brought back its optional Touch Pass, allowing guests who wanted a more interactive experience to make the nightmare even more personal.

Dead Acres Haunted Hoochie – Pataskala, Ohio
Dead Acres Haunted Hoochie in Pataskala has spent decades building a reputation for being one of the wildest, most offensive, over-the-top haunted attractions in the country. This is not polished, family-friendly Halloween entertainment. The Hoochie intentionally goes for sensory overload with brutal imagery, dark humor, loud music, blood, fire, enormous effects, relentless characters, and scenes designed to cross lines most attractions won’t even approach.
In 2025, Dead Acres somehow managed to turn the insanity up again, even adding a functioning vintage funhouse to its “abusement park.” Our teams gave the Hoochie a 9.22/10 and once again found an attraction that seemed determined to surprise, shock, offend, and overwhelm guests before they ever had time to recover from the previous scene. Even the waiting line is a party!
Opening night: September 17th
Know Before You Go: Extreme indoor/outdoor attraction, food and merchandise available, and guests should expect close physical interaction in tight spaces.

The Dent Schoolhouse – Cincinnati, Ohio
The Dent Schoolhouse takes you inside a real old schoolhouse, the home of murderous janitor Charlie McFree and the twisted faculty, students, and creatures that have taken over its classrooms, hallways, basement, and surrounding grounds. Dent is especially known for its enormous attention to scenic detail, clever actor hiding spots, original characters, and the way it transforms a familiar school setting into something much darker.
2026 is an especially big year as Dent celebrates its 30th season of screams. Changes include major audio upgrades, a new basement experience, a completely renovated finale, expanded Monster Midway entertainment, additional photo ops, queue surprises, new character reveal of Mr. Shady, and Pumpkin Smasher’s Scarecrow Showdown game.

Know Before You Go: Timed ticketing is used and time slots can sell out, online purchase is strongly recommended, every haunt ticket includes access to the Monster Midway. Dent also offers Ghost Tours, Behind the Scenes Tours, Lights On, Lights Out, and Christmas events on select dates. They also have mini escape rooms, photo ops, food, drinks, ax throwing, a haunted house museum, and more!

Wells Township Haunted House – Brilliant, Ohio
Wells Township Haunted House in Brilliant is one of the most unusual attractions on this list because guests aren’t simply released into the building to wander through on their own. Instead, groups are taken through a guided theatrical experience in which scenes unfold around them, and visitors may become part of the show! But don’t worry, it’s scary as hell!
The haunt operates inside a building dating back to 1836 that reportedly served as temporary storage for the bodies of Civil War soldiers being transported along the Ohio River. Today, that building is packed with old-school tricks, moving effects, theatrical scenes, interactive characters, unusual physical effects, and plenty of moments designed around misdirection. Our 2025 team gave Wells Township a 9.09/10 after spending about 26 minutes inside.
Opening night: September 19th
Know Before You Go: Guided rather than self-guided experience, interactive attraction where actors may touch guests, live bands frequently perform outside, food is available, and parking is limited enough that street parking may be necessary on busy nights.

Blood Prison – Mansfield, Ohio
Blood Prison has one advantage almost no haunted attraction can manufacture: it takes place inside the massive, historic Ohio State Reformatory. The real prison’s enormous steel cell blocks, stone corridors, institutional spaces, and reported paranormal activity become the setting for a fictional penitentiary overrun by violent inmates, corrupt guards, and creatures who have no intention of granting guests parole.
The setting alone is worth seeing, but Blood Prison fills it with more than 100 characters, detailed prison-themed environments, special effects, and several of its own recognizable personalities, including the towering Warden’s Widow. For 2026, the attraction is adding new sets, along with updated audio, lighting, and visual elements, as well as a new costume for the Warden’s Widow! We’ve already seen it online, and it’s more terrifying than ever!
Opening night: September 25th

Akron Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory – Akron, Ohio
Akron Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory offers guests two haunted attractions housed in two very different historic buildings on the same property. The Schoolhouse, built in 1921, combines classrooms, attics, basements, old-school haunt tricks, and highly detailed characters, while the Laboratory uses its unusual industrial history to create medical nightmares and effects that simply couldn’t exist in a temporary attraction.
One of the Laboratory’s most memorable features is its enormous vertical wind tunnel, left behind from the building’s previous scientific use, while the Schoolhouse continues delivering classic scares with a modern level of detail. During our 2025 visit, the two attractions took roughly 40 minutes combined and earned a 9.02/10.
Opening night: September 19th
Know Before You Go: Food and drinks are available, bars and midway entertainment are on the property, and both attractions involve a considerable number of stairs. The experience is no-touch. Also open for various off-season events!

Chippewa Lake Slaughterhouse – Chippewa Lake, Ohio
Chippewa Lake Slaughterhouse doesn’t just pretend to operate inside an old meat-processing facility. The attraction occupies a real slaughterhouse that operated from 1948 until 1986, and the Karver family storyline uses that history to turn the building into an industrial nightmare of butchers, meat-processing rooms, workers, disturbing family members, and things guests probably don’t want identified.
During our 2025 visit, the cast leaned heavily into the slaughterhouse story with aggressive butchers, office workers, cult-like figures, and members of the Karver family filling the former facility. The authentic building, industrial surroundings, and believable characters helped Chippewa Lake Slaughterhouse reach a 9.00/10 from our teams.

Know Before You Go: Indoor/Outdoor attraction with a covered waiting area, tickets must be reserved online in advance, timed entry is used, they do have merch, guests 18+ can purchase an optional Touch Pass. No bags or purses are allowed, and concessions are not available on-site.

Factory of Terror – Canton, Ohio
Factory of Terror in Canton is a massive industrial haunt stretching for more than a mile through a former factory complex, making it one of the largest haunts in the world. Guests move between radically different environments, from the Forsaken Asylum of Dr. Morbidius and Industrial Nightmare to Massacre on Mahoning and the underwater-inspired Abyss, with large effects, animatronics, actors, sound, fog, and the building’s original industrial architecture helping each area feel distinct.
The biggest change for 2026 is how guests experience the property. Factory of Terror is introducing an open-concept format, meaning that once you’re inside the building, you can choose which attractions to visit and in what order, rather than following a fixed route. Your ticket allows four attraction entries, and the interactive Grimm Woods is also part of the experience. Guests can even revisit a favorite haunt by using one of their four entries.
Opening night: September 19th
Know Before You Go: Open-concept format for 2026, more than one mile of attractions, 130+ actors, food, five themed bars, axe throwing and other entertainment, and parking is available on-site. Guests 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult age 21+. Parking starts at $5 cash and goes up.
