Our Must-See selections may include attractions we’ve reviewed, visited, or filmed, along with other haunts that stand out for what they offer, their popularity among haunt fans, or other reasons we think they’re worth checking out.
This is not a ranking or a “10 best” list, and these certainly aren’t the only haunts in Tennessee worth visiting. Think of this as a starting point for building your haunt list. Plenty more attractions across Tennessee are waiting to be discovered! This list is in no particular order.
So, where will you scream first?
The Scream Chamber – Athens, Tennessee
The Scream Chamber in Athens operates inside an old building with more than 200 years of history, giving this East Tennessee haunt an atmosphere that already feels unsettling before the first actor ever appears. The attraction builds its experience around nightmare-inspired environments, themed areas, aggressive characters, and an optional level of interaction for guests who want the scares to feel more personal.
During our 2025 visit, The Scream Chamber transformed the walkthrough into a nightmare guests couldn’t wake up from, surrounding us with strange creatures and scenes we couldn’t break free from. The cast, effects, pacing, and intensity helped it earn an impressive 9.54/10, making it the highest-rated Tennessee attraction The Scare Factor reviewed last season.
Opening night: September 19th
Know Before You Go: The haunt is 95% under roof, food and merchandise, midway area, wheelchair accessible, and optional touching may occur depending on the ticket or experience selected. Guests wait in the midway until their ticket number is called rather than spending the entire wait in the main queue.

Haunted Web Scream Park – Memphis – Tennessee
Haunted Web Scream Park in Memphis packs four haunted houses into one Halloween destination, giving guests dramatically different environments without traveling between separate properties. For 2026, guests can experience Piney River Campground, Slotch Sanatorium, The Residence, and Voodoo Village.
Haunted Web has become especially known for mixing detailed sets and actor-driven scares with extra experiences that let guests extend the night beyond the main haunts. Returning fans can add a secret bar experience, zombie hunt, mini escape rooms, or even a Respawn Pass that allows them to go through all four haunted houses a second time.
Opening night: October 2nd
Know Before You Go: One ticket includes four haunted houses, limited nightly ticket quantities, online purchase recommended, festival-style midway atmosphere, live entertainment and horror boutique included, and secret bar, zombie hunt, mini escape rooms, and Respawn Pass are optional add-ons.
Dread Hollow – Chattanooga, Tennessee
Dread Hollow in Chattanooga is a story-driven haunted attraction created by the team behind the former Ruby Falls Haunted Cavern. More than 25,000 square feet of detailed environments, original characters, elaborate illusions, and connected storylines pull guests into a fictional town cursed by centuries of dark history.
For 2026, Dread Hollow continues the battle surrounding the town with three new chapters and new horror-themed escape room experiences. The main walkthrough takes guests through connected environments rather than treating them as separate haunted houses, helping the story stay intact from beginning to end.
Opening night: October 1st
Know Before You Go: All-indoor haunted attraction, cashless property, horror escape rooms available separately, RIP upgrade includes access to a control room where guests can activate scares, and parental discretion is advised. No-touch haunt.

Screamville Haunted Attraction – Knoxville, Tennessee
Screamville Haunted Attraction in Knoxville turns an enormous cornfield into a cursed rural nightmare built around the story of Virgil Branson and the sinister things hiding within his land. Guests spend much of the experience outside, weaving through corn and dark trails before encountering fully built environments hidden throughout the field.
During our 2025 visit, Screamville packed the trail with creative characters, detailed scenes, professional-looking makeup, disturbing props, and scares that continually came from unexpected directions. The attraction has also grown into more than a haunted cornfield, with midway entertainment, mini golf, an escape experience, food, merchandise, and roaming characters giving guests more to do before and after the walkthrough.
Opening night: September 25th
Know Before You Go: Primarily an outdoor haunted cornfield/trail, food trucks, merchandise, mini golf, and Camp Getaway escape experience available, General Admission, Fast Pass, and VIP options traditionally offered. No-touch haunt.

Avondale Haunted Barn – Rutledge, Tennessee
Avondale Haunted Barn in Rutledge uses a real historic barn and local Tennessee folklore to create a haunt that feels deeply connected to its surroundings. The attraction centers on the cursed Avondale Hollow, where the murders at the old Pickett farm, lost soldiers, strange cries, and other local legends have become part of the mythology surrounding the property.
Inside the barn, guests move through a dark world and increasingly twisted environments filled with actors, detailed scenery, and effects that use the building’s rustic character to their advantage. The experience has changed significantly over the years while keeping its authentic barn setting and original folklore at the heart of the show.
Opening night: October 2nd
Know Before You Go: Indoor attraction that operates rain or shine, free parking, no intentional touching, maximum group size of six, and the haunt is not recommended for children under 12. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Millers Thrillers Haunted Woods – Columbia, Tennessee
Millers Thrillers Haunted Woods in Columbia turns hundreds of acres of Tennessee farmland into an outdoor Halloween show combining a long haunted trail with one of the attraction’s signature zombie experiences. For 2026, the Haunted Woods has become Hillbilly Hollar, sending guests into an abandoned phosphate-mining community where strange residents and creatures have taken control.
The other major experience is the revamped Zombie Hayride Reloaded, where guests climb aboard military-style vehicles and fire at zombies as they travel through the property. The attraction’s entertainment zone is nearly an event by itself, with a zombie drumline, fire performers, stilt walkers, jugglers, lasers, fireworks, food, photo opportunities, and live stage entertainment.
Opening night: September 26th
Know Before You Go: Outdoor experience, buy tickets online in advance to avoid long ticket-booth waits, food/concessions and live entertainment, Slash Pass upgrades available, Hillbilly Hollar is ages 10+, Zombie Hayride is ages 8+, and guests under 16 must have an adult with them.
The Devils Dungeon – Nashville, Tennessee
The Devils Dungeon sits just outside downtown Nashville and takes a deliberately aggressive, chaotic approach to haunted entertainment. Guests move through a sprawling indoor nightmare filled with clowns, creatures, distorted environments, sensory effects, vortex tunnels, air cannons, and scenes that seem determined to keep the intensity high from beginning to end.
During our 2025 visit, the attraction stood out for its relentless energy, creative environments, characters, and willingness to push beyond the polished style found at many larger corporate haunts. Our team gave it an 8.70/10, and it remains one of the more intense traditional haunted house experiences in the Nashville area!
Opening night: September 30th
Know Before You Go: All-indoor attraction, covered and uncovered outdoor waiting areas, food and merchandise available, free parking nearby, and no-touch experience. The attraction describes itself as intended for guests looking for a more controversial and intense style of haunt. Recommended for ages 13+. The haunt is completely wheelchair accessible.

Dead Man’s Farm – Philadelphia, Tennessee
Dead Man’s Farm in Philadelphia combines two very different haunted experiences with one of the more active midways in East Tennessee. Bludgeon Haunted House puts guests inside the disturbing home of a twisted family, while Lost Souls Haunted Trail moves primarily outdoors through a haunted cornfield packed with tormented souls.
The property is designed for guests to stay awhile. Outside the main haunts are mini escape games, carnival games, roaming characters, bonfires, food trucks, photo opportunities, merchandise, and other seasonal entertainment. During our 2025 visit, the attraction continued its tradition of rebuilding major portions of the experience each year rather than simply reopening the same trail.

Know Before You Go: Indoor/outdoor experience, individual or combo ticket options, Fast Pass and Maniac upgrades available, optional Dare to Be Touched upgrade for those 18+, food trucks, midway games and escape games, and parking is $5 CASH ONLY.

Nashville Nightmare – Madison, Tennessee
Nashville Nightmare has grown into a massive high-tech Halloween destination filled with multiple haunted attractions, elaborate cinematic sets, special effects, roaming characters, and a large midway packed with additional entertainment. During our 2025 visit, four separate houses took guests through dramatically different worlds ranging from twisted fairy tales and a horror-filled high school to aliens and the Boogieman.
The lineup changes heavily again for 2026. The biggest addition is the officially licensed Jason Universe: Survive the Night, bringing Jason Voorhees into a full walkthrough haunted attraction. Other 2026 experiences include Vector Research XIII, a corrupted Fairy Tale Hell, Mr. Sweet’s House of Horrors, and Creature Feature, an aging theater where the performance apparently never ended. A limited Jason Universe Director’s Cut VIP experience even lets guests influence how Jason attacks victims in a scene.
Opening night: September 12th

Know Before You Go: Multiple haunted houses, free parking, timed tickets, dynamic pricing, Fast Pass and Skip the Line upgrades, large midway with food and entertainment, mini escape games, hidden bars, merchandise and photo ops, no-touch experience, and guests 15 and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult while on the property.

Wicked Ways Haunted House – Memphis, Tennessee
Wicked Ways Haunted House in Memphis is an all-indoor attraction that embraces gruesome, aggressive horror with elaborate effects, creatures, original characters, and environments built to keep guests under pressure throughout the walkthrough.
New this season are an underground toxic sewer system and a two-story demented log cabin, along with twisted clowns, sci-fi humanoids, and other updated sections throughout the haunt. Guests can also add the Tormented Extreme Virtual Reality Encounter or Cannibal five-minute escape room for more horror after the main walkthrough.
Opening night: September 19th
Know Before You Go: Indoor attraction, free parking, tickets available online and on-site, no-touch experience, gift shop, separate Extreme VR and five-minute escape-room add-ons, and discounted child tickets for ages 12 and under are available only in person.
