Scoring Criteria Transition: 2026 sits right at a change in our review categories and weighting, so this score isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison to reviews from nearby years under different criteria; worth keeping in mind if you’re tracking a haunt’s rating over time.

Summary

Bloodview is a certified classic in the Cleveland area. It’s still a few seasons away, but they are steadily creeping up on the 50-year mark. We’ve been coming here for decades! Visitors will experience an actor-driven, old-school charity attraction hosted by the Lions Club of Broadview Heights and performed by the infamous Legion of Terror. This longtime, all-volunteer acting troupe is noted for developing fully fleshed-out characters and demonstrating impressive improvisational chops. The walkthrough begins with a brief appetizer building called the Gorehouse, followed by a trail, and ending with the House of the Damned. We have treated the three… Read More…

Signage for the attraction started quite far away, several streets, in fact. We saw two or three before the last one at the driveway, which isn’t too far from a main road, so only the most hopelessly directionally challenged will have a chance of not finding the place easily. Seriously though, nice job on the signposting – we’ve had too many frustrating occurrences at places where the turn-in is barely visible. Parking attendants guided us into the free lot. An extremely obvious entranceway led right into the ticketing booth. From there, the line went straight to the attraction entrance. Can’t… Read More…

A raggedy hearse and the notorious archway of thorns and spearpoints spelling out ‘Bloodview’ welcomed us to the proceedings. Ghastly lighting, screams and chainsaws ringing through the night, creepy artworks and props, and a series of fun imprisonment/punishment-based photo ops created a sufficient mood for fright prep. Gorehouse sported a consistent look throughout with oodles of torn torsos, akimbo skellys, messy corpses, and skeevy-looking body parts embedded in the walls and hanging from the ceiling. The trail’s pacing, varied scenes, and unexpected creature appearances kept things moving along pretty well, aside from a long dead zone near the end and… Read More…

Special Effects7.59

High-tech equipment need not apply in this proudly old-school attraction, but that does not equal a lackluster presentation. We noticed a continued focus on improvements to the set design and scene detailing that we discovered on our last trip here. Following its homegrown ethic since its very first year in 1980, the effects work is handmade and offers a plentiful plethora of gory, creepy props. However! In a first for us over decades of visits, we were shocked to see an animatronic. It was a nice one, too: a giant rat with glowing eyes rearing on its hind legs. A… Read More…

Overviewing the next two sections, we should note we had an interesting switcheroo at Bloodview this time around. We usually come more for the entertaining interactions with the improv-eriffic cast and less for the scares. Well, this time around we collected a lot more scares and got fewer amusing exchanges with actors. It could just be that there seemed to be fewer of them populating the attraction this time. The Gorehouse contained some good actors and the trail was well stocked, but House of the Damned seemed a little thin – especially the asylum area, which usually is rocking with… Read More…

This turned into one of the scarier nights we’ve encountered at Bloodview. The trail, especially, hid many shadowy figures cunningly covered and waiting to pounce. A creeper conspiratorially did the finger-to-lips shushing motion and gestured to us that they were going to pursue a kid walking in front of us and offered a fist bump on the way back when we appreciated the resulting yelp from the kid – but then the monster turned on a dime to make it a snarling scare opportunity. Effects-driven frights included a few hair-raising drop window scares and a hair-blowing air cannon attack. Distractions… Read More…

Value8.16

We took in the view at Bloodview in 22 total minutes. General admission is $20 for a single walkthrough. Other options include a single trip fast pass for $25, unlimited trips through (during one night) for $30, and unlimited (same night) visits with fast pass for $40. Prices are the same as two years ago. Thank you, Bloodview inflation busters. Running those numbers gives us an MPD, or minutes per dollar of attraction time, of 1.1. We look for a baseline ratio of 1.0, so they’re just over that target metric. It’s spooky and entertaining enough, especially on a night… Read More…
