Your experience at Fright Haven starts with a hotel bellhop who takes you into an elevator and sends you straight into the unknown. From there, the scares keep coming, with actors popping out from around corners, down low, and even from above. There are a lot of different places for them to hide, so you’re constantly looking around and wondering where the next one is going to come from.
The timing on the scares was generally good, and a few of the actors did a great job with their jump scares. We also liked that they mixed in some things that were a little different from the typical pop-out scare. The vibrating floor and the doll popping out both caught our attention and added some variety to the experience.
Most of the scares were fairly easy for us to anticipate, though. Once you noticed where an actor was hiding or recognized a setup, you could usually tell something was coming. One character in particular seemed very focused on getting a reaction and was responsible for a lot of the jump scares we experienced. They definitely kept working the group and trying to get those reactions.
One thing we noticed was that the attraction seemed to focus heavily on whoever was leading the group. So if you’re at the front, you’re probably going to get a lot more attention from the actors. For us, having a little more unpredictability in where the scares came from would have made some of those moments hit even harder.
The finale was entertaining and included some fun elements, but we felt this was an opportunity to really go bigger. After everything leading up to it, a larger or more intense finale could have given the attraction a stronger final scare and left us with a more memorable ending.
Overall, Fright Haven had a good amount of scares and kept the action moving. While we weren’t constantly caught off guard, there were enough actors and different scare points to keep us looking around and wondering what was coming next.
