Legends of Fear was a much-anticipated haunt for us, and boy, did it deliver. We started our night with the hayride, and the suspenseful intro had our hearts racing right from the beginning. The sounds alone were enough to make us wonder what we were getting ourselves into, and then the flames shooting into the air and blasts of air had everyone reacting. They did a great job setting the tone and getting the entire group ready for what was coming.
The butcher shop was a standout for us. As we approached the barn, fire was shooting from the building, and once we got inside, those boys wanted to skin us alive! The actors got right in our faces and brought some serious intensity to the scene. As we moved through the woods, the sounds combined with little eyes watching from the darkness created a genuinely creepy feeling. The Trick ‘r Treat area was also creepy, and the pirate cannons definitely startled us when they fired.
The winery was probably the most unique scene we’ve seen at a haunt. These vampire winemakers were using blood to make their wine, which is such an original concept that it really caught our attention. We think this area could use a little more scare, though. Adding something like tubes coming from a victim as their blood is being drained to make the wine could really take this scene to another level. We’re excited to see what may come of this concept in the future because there is a lot of potential here for an even bigger scare.
The clowns were another highlight from the hayride. They were scary, they were in our faces, and they definitely weren’t giving us much personal space. When you hear the metal music…
After finishing the hayride, we headed into The Hallow, the trail portion of Legends of Fear, and the scares definitely continued. We encountered spooky witches casting spells, creepy dolls, and actresses in the doll house, and plenty of opportunities to get caught off guard.
The doll house in particular was creepy, and the actresses inside were super haunting in a way that made us want to keep moving. The fun house was another area that kept us on alert, with actors using multiple angles to make it hard to guess where they’d come from next. That unpredictability helped keep us looking around instead of simply waiting for the next scare.
The church was packed with scary nuns, and there was also a good vampire pop scare that caught our attention. We also encountered some seriously scary chainsaw scarecrows and spooky skeletons that brought a different kind of intensity to the experience.
Throughout the haunt, the sounds and atmosphere helped keep the tension building. There were plenty of moments where you could hear something coming before you could actually see it, which made us wonder what was waiting around the next corner. Every set also did a great job making you feel like you were actually part of the environment instead of simply walking past a collection of scenes.
One thing we did notice was that in the trail, the actors seemed to focus heavily on the front of the group. So if you’re leading the way, be prepared to get a lot of attention! For us, having a few more scares aimed at different parts of the group could make the experience even more unpredictable.
Overall, Legends of Fear absolutely lived up to the anticipation we had going in. The combination of suspense, creepy scenes, aggressive actors, and unexpected scares kept us engaged from the beginning of the hayride through the end of The Hallow. There were a few areas where we think the scares could be pushed even further, but this was still a haunt that gave us plenty of reasons to look over our shoulders and wonder what was coming next.
