Summary

Midnight Terror (MT) has been a fantastic location in Oaklawn for some time. One of the many factors that we have appreciated over the years is their unique storytelling. MT retired the Willow story a few seasons ago in favor of a new direction, which seemed to be revealed in a big way this season. This season, it’s all about that Fright Bite, BABY! Black Oak Grove has some interesting happenings at their candy factory. It leaves us wondering when we can grab some Fright Bites in the concession!

Guest Experience9.53

MT has a strong social media presence and has an easy-to-use website for ticket sales as well as location info and parking. MT provides a shuttle bus service to the grounds of the attraction with parking off-site, though guests can find nearby parking as well if needed. There are plenty of staff all around to help provide a safe night for everyone. We have personally seen medical staff quickly respond to events like panic attacks, which is reassuring about how professionally the team takes everyone’s situation so attentively. Despite long lines, the team moves guests at a good rate and… Read More…

Immersion9.36

We were led up to the outdoor queue line where the music pumped up the crowd under the white tent. After a brief wait outdoors, we continued to an indoor area, which gave an industrial decontamination vibe. A video played on a screen visible for the whole crowd to see. In the spirit of Halloween, multiple commercials were played reliving the nostalgia of slasher horror films and TV show specials. Then, a found footage about Fright Bites interrupts the scheduled program and mentions the possibility of trouble. Did we stumble upon something we shouldn’t know about? With the mystery established… Read More…

Special Effects9.11

MT has some great effects throughout the attraction. The first half of the haunt is factory-themed. The first scene that leads to several different factory scenes is the cave. This is so well detailed and looks like a naturally occurring cave. As stated, this leads into the first part of the haunt, the factory. There are several well-detailed spots and some great effects throughout. The factory uses great lighting, fog, and narrow, small spaces all to give guests a unique experience. There is an acid bath area that uses black light to create a toxic effect. Skeletons are dumped into… Read More…

Characters9.1

The cast at MT are incredibly talented at making guests feel uncomfortable and grossed out with some of the things they do. Even in the queue, amongst a party atmosphere, some of the actors were grossing guests out by spitting slime into a trick-or-treat bucket and hand-scooping it back into their mouth. Makes me gag just thinking about it. There is also a towering Stilt walker who moves seamlessly through the crowd of guests. Once inside the building, the caged queue areas have plenty of roaming actors that are not afraid to get close and personal. A ghoul greeted us,… Read More…

Scare Factor9.05

MT has always been heavy on the scares, and this season is no different. The actors not only create a chaotic atmosphere, but they also seem comfortable doing some very gross things. These moments are not only vomit-inducing (thankfully, so far, only the feeling); they also are distracting enough for the next scare. Inside the first half of the attraction, the actors seem to love spewing things into their hands and eating it all over again. Many of the actors are in your face with dialogue, growls, and screams. One odd room that left us uneasy was the Eyeball scene.… Read More…

Value7.92

Our walkthrough on the night of our visit lasted 20 minutes. GA tickets start at $31.99, with Fast Pass at $52 and Immediate Access at $77. MT is known for drawing crowds every night, with the faster options being the better choice if you show up late. The midway is also packed with carnival games, a concession stand, physical photo pickup, a reptile den, and a little retail therapy to calm the nerves afterward. MT also offers a Trick or Treat Day for children and adults to dress up and walk through with lights on, so be sure to stay… Read More…
