While some rooms were a bit sparse, other rooms had an incredible amount of detail, with remarkable decaying skeletal and demonic figures created by local artists, a laboratory room with props from a real hospital, and a room covered from floor to ceiling with real mortuary photography. One of the most memorable rooms was definitely the space where we began our adventure – a living room with a ouija board, trees surrounding you and some beautiful lighting.
While there was no real sound system in this haunt, there was some music in two or three of the rooms, with the actors providing their own vocalisations to project through the other more silent rooms. The guttural yelling and grunting from an unknown creature followed us for practically the entire journey, not showing his horrific face until our last moments in the attraction. Another lovely sound moment was when we were haunted by beautiful piano music, only to discover a terrifying actor was the source of these sounds, tinkering away on the keys of a large piano.
Ultimately, while this attraction excelled in some rooms in terms of the effectiveness of their sound, scenic and props design, there was a general lack of light in some of the more designed spaces, thus making it difficult, if not impossible, to see all the hard work the experience had put into creating these spaces. A few more expertly placed lights and a more consistent sound and scenic design in the barer spaces would have helped in bringing all of the spaces together.
