Summary

This is the 13th season for Scare at the Fair in West Alexander’s fairgrounds, and we were genuinely impressed by what they put together! They have just three weeks to build this entire haunt and only one week to tear it all down. That’s a pretty incredible undertaking! Located at the fairgrounds, this nonprofit haunt features four different barn houses, each adding to the experience. It’s awesome to see this event keep growing and getting better with every season. Whether you’ve been to dozens of haunted attractions or you’re just getting started, this place really has something for everyone. It’s… Read More…

Guest Experience9.23

Upon arriving, you’ll see a sign letting you know where to turn. As you drive through the fairgrounds, certain areas are roped off to help guide you along the correct route to the parking field. Once we arrived, several parking attendants were there directing guests and helping everyone find a parking spot. After parking, we noticed a snack area with so many delicious options, along with a window where you could purchase tickets and pick up some merchandise. The staff here were super friendly and welcoming! They took the time to explain everything, especially if you were visiting for the… Read More…

Immersion7.93

While waiting outside, they had decorations set up with lighting and music, along with a sign for the attraction. We understand that creating a fully immersive atmosphere can be challenging when they have to build everything from scratch and tear it all down every year. However, we were honestly impressed with what they were able to accomplish! As we made our way through the attraction and its different barns, there wasn’t necessarily one continuous storyline, but you could definitely tell what themes they were going for in each section. We found ourselves pretty immersed throughout the entire experience because we… Read More…

Special Effects8.15

Throughout the entire attraction, the sound was actually pretty impressive! It was nice and loud, and we really enjoyed the different music and soundtracks they used for each barn. It helped give every section its own atmosphere and made the experience even more entertaining. Inside the first barn, we were greeted with some moving pictures that spin along the walls, along with a few other really cool props. It was a fun way to kick off the experience and gave us a taste of the creativity they had throughout the attraction. Moving into the second barn, we were met with… Read More…

Characters7.93

Throughout the attraction, we encountered all kinds of different characters, from clowns and disco dancers to graveyard actors. There was a nice variety of performers, and we enjoyed seeing how each one fit into the different themed sections. Our personal favorite actor of the entire evening was the girl dancing in the disco area who was cracking corny jokes with us! She didn’t necessarily scare us, but she definitely made us laugh and was incredibly entertaining to interact with. Sometimes it’s those unexpected, fun interactions that make an experience even more memorable! As far as costumes go, a lot of… Read More…

Scare Factor7.85

Throughout the night, we encountered a few unexpected air blasts, creatures lurking in the shadows, and, of course, we can’t forget about the chainsaws! The actors were dedicated to bringing their scares to life, and we thought they did a great job with their timing and placement. Some actors would sneak up behind you, while others would come straight at you from the front. We were startled a few times by actors running around and popping out in some of the most unexpected places. It kept us on our toes and made the experience fun and exciting! Our personal favorite… Read More…

Value8.18

Ticket prices are $18 for adults and $12 for children ages 12 and under. They don’t offer VIP tickets or separate fast-pass lines, as everyone pays the same general admission price. The entire attraction took us approximately 20 minutes to complete. Based on the adult admission price, this brings the MPD (minutes per dollar spent) to 1.11, which is above average! We really appreciate that this nonprofit haunted attraction keeps its prices reasonable so families can come out and enjoy a fun night together without breaking the bank. But if you make it through all four barns and still want… Read More…
