Cast Review:

The queue actors, made up of Trepidation’s more popular icons, really bring exciting and thrilling energy before you even enter the haunt. Punky, Pixie, and Cutter are silly but frightening figures that are a delight to interact with, in and out of the attraction itself!

The rest of the cast also brings a lot of energy into their performances. Laughing maniacally, creeping close around corners, and popping around where you least expect. We would love to see more of the cast in the haunt itself be more aggressive, as some of the cast felt more performative or held back, and we see a lot of potential! Some of the dialogue also felt a little generic compared to our last visit, with a few “get out” and “give me your soul” lines thrown out.

The pig prisoner towards the beginning felt the most aggressive and in your face, as he was rattling the bars begging to be freed and then going after you in the church after you didn’t free him, standing on the seats to lean over and reach towards you.

Plenty of actors felt eerie and put you on edge, like the blind girl at the doors section and the security guard. The blind girl creepily looked us over, selecting us to go into one of two doors and separating our groups. The security guard was tall and loomed over us as we inched by him.

One actor we would love to see more interaction with is Dr Cain. He is the head of the Asylum and it felt like we brushed past him rather quickly besides getting a quick checkup done by him. This was a fun interactive moment, but we really wanted to see more and spend more time with the infamous Doctor and perhaps see him in more areas besides his main hospital room. He is a fun and intimidating figure to run into!

Costuming Review:

The costuming felt unique and personalized to each character, with some more detailed than others. There were a couple of costumes that didn’t quite belong to the setting, including an animal skull reaper and a toothy goblin-like creature, both wearing hoods. Otherwise, the other patients in the asylum wore various patient clothing, or no shirts at all.

The queue actors were the most stylized and detailed, with specialized masks, outfits, and all sorts of pins and patches. We can tell they took the time to really distress and customize their outfits.

The actors mostly wore various masks, so we didn’t see much makeup being used, with the exception of the patient in the padded room who had some dark makeup streaming down her face and Dr Cain’s bloody face beneath his mask.

The gore in the outfits was minimal but realistic and effective. We also saw a lot of colored eye contacts and even prosthetic teeth!

Customer Service Review:

Trepidations is rather easy to spot in the location it’s in! It brings a lot of buzz and life to the part of town it’s in, with plenty of lights and signs indicating that it is a haunt, though parking was a bit tricky to figure out.

We didn’t get the chance to speak with many of the staff, but they were very kind and accommodating during our visit!

The website has been updated and filled with all the information you need before your visit! Their social media pages are very active as well.

There are not any safety concerns from our visit! Just always be sure to watch your step!

Immersion Review:

Trepidations brings a hot spot of fun and anticipation for the haunt as soon as you arrive. The outdoor building is covered in lights, signs, and queue actors ready to pounce on the next victims to arrive. It gets even more detailed when you walk through the door, with a detailed and colorful waiting area and a great view of the Rosewood Asylum facade at the start of the haunt.

Within the haunt, they did a great job of keeping anything that would be considered “behind the scenes” hidden, allowing us to stay immersed throughout the duration of our visit. The only exception would be some of the transitions between areas fit a bit jarring like the prison area turning into a church and then back to an asylum.

The perk of it being a shorter haunt is its ability to keep your attention and engagement the entire time. The haunt truly doesn’t end, even as you are leaving the photo-op room!

Special FX Review:

Trepidations offers some animatronics throughout the haunt with effective scene-building or jump scares.

The lighting throughout the haunt was dim, giving an eerie atmosphere to the attraction. They also used lights to highlight certain areas of interest, like the doors/shrines of certain characters, which also leads to good jump scares by distracting you.

The addition to the many facades used in this haunt really makes it larger than life! This haunt also had lots of details in most of the areas we visited, with some impressive decor pieces like the chair archway in the classroom for example. Some of the areas with the most details include the library and many of the medical offices including Dr. Cain’s room, which all looked realistic for the setting.

In place of sound effects was rock/metal music playing throughout the whole attraction. We think adding some sound effects would elevate this attraction and take it to the next level!

With this haunt being in its first year in the new building, we expect the building to continue growing in detail over time. While not as detailed as the year prior, we love the format of the new building and we hope to see them continue to build off of the new space and add on more details to the attraction!

Scare Factor Review:

Trepidations know how to make a haunt scary and fun! Oftentimes we find ourselves with an actor that will take you by surprise with their scares, even after presenting themselves more playfully!
The tight corners and the lighting distractions made it difficult to predict where the next scare was going to come next and had the actors well placed so it didn’t lose momentum.

One thing we miss is the more innovative and unique scares offered in the year prior, as this year relied mainly on jumpscares. We expect them to continue growing and fleshing out more ways to scare and more details as years go on with this new building.

That said, expect a frighteningly good time when you visit Trepidations! They will spoil you with a fun night with great set design, spooky and entertaining actors, and a great Halloween atmosphere!

E&V Review:

Trepidations took us roughly 16 minutes to make it through, and it’s $20 a ticket! After you are through the haunt, there is a big room with so many props and set design pieces for photo ops, and you can also visit their Coffin Corner merch store with Trepidations specific merch as well as other Halloween/horror-themed items for sale!

We are so, so happy that Trepidations Haunted Attraction is back and it’s been a highly anticipated haunt for us to visit! It’s clear that everyone truly loves what they do and puts a lot of passion into the haunt. We look forward to many more visits in the future and seeing how they grow into the new space and unlock all of its potential.
