Scoring Criteria Transition: 2026 sits right at a change in our review categories and weighting, so this score isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison to reviews from nearby years under different criteria; worth keeping in mind if you’re tracking a haunt’s rating over time.

Summary

Whoa! Disturbia Haunted House was a sensory overload from start to finish! Before we even reached the ticket booth, actors climbed over structures, slid through the crowd, crawled across the ground, and charged around with chainsaws. We knew immediately that this scary party had already started! Disturbia is the sister attraction to Basement of the Dead, which we also highly recommend visiting. Although this wasn’t a touch haunt, its cast attacked with such force and intensity that it often felt like one! With 360-degree details and scares surrounding us, we never knew what, or who, would come flying our way… Read More…

Guest Experience9.65

One standout feature of Disturbia is that they provide the public with several opportunities for discounted tickets with promo codes as well as texts (if you sign up to receive them), mostly with the opportunity to purchase massive combo prices between them and their sister haunt, Basement of the Dead. Disturbia is highly active on social media sites as well as local billboards throughout various highways around Chicago. Their website has a great deal of information and provides online tickets, though they can be purchased on site as well. Free parking is available, as Disturba is located at the far… Read More…

Immersion9.22

The best way to describe Disturbia is party from the outside, scary on the inside. A live DJ is positioned in the middle of the queue line while the actors roam around. On the day of our visit, it did not take long for a crowd, not a line, to start forming before opening. You can tell the actors were eager to get the night started. We are no strangers to this attraction; we have seen the progression since the first year. But when we noticed we were taking a different path than normal, the mind recognized that and put… Read More…

Special Effects9.38

We have never seen so many effects packed into a haunt of this size! They surrounded us from every direction and frequently came uncomfortably close. Disturbia’s effects were stunning and effective, and they contributed nearly as much to the scares as the actors. That’s how you use special effects! Our journey began in a beautifully designed cemetery, where floating ghosts surrounded us, and seemingly lifeless bodies suddenly sprang to life. And let us warn you: some of those things moved FAST! From there, the effects never stopped. Disturbia featured a creative take on a claustrophobic passageway, with constantly changing wall… Read More…

Characters9.31

The actors throughout the attraction had a great level of intensity during our walkthrough. With various new scenes and room designs, they worked their areas well and gave us a solid performance in every place we entered. The cemetery at the beginning has been reworked and is narrower than before; this gives actors an up-close and personal experience in this scene, as they are much closer than in prior seasons. This is true with various scenes and gives the actors much more control to pop up and encounter guests more closely. One of the new scenes amazingly hid actors throughout.… Read More…

Scare Factor9.23

Disturbia delivered many scares throughout the attraction. This season had to be one of their best in a variety of different categories, Scare Factor being one of them. Disturbia underwent a variety of change-ups this season, giving actors more involved interactions with guests passing through. Several pop-out scares lead into double taps to create great moments of fright. The animatronics throughout the attraction also create great distractions, which lead actors right in for a good scare. Given the giant nature of some of the animatronics, it’s a fairly simple task, as they are amazing to look at. The sewer scene… Read More…

Value7.91

Disturbia offers general admission, VIP, and extremely limited Instant Admission tickets, along with discounts for larger groups. Ticket prices increase as the event date approaches, so buying early locks in the lowest available price. From a value perspective, the main drawback was the length relative to the ticket price. On the night of our visit, general admission cost $37.94, and we spent approximately 20 minutes inside the haunt. That came to 0.53 minutes of in-haunt entertainment per dollar, well below the nationwide average of about one minute per dollar we most often see. Keep in mind that the MPD portion… Read More…
