Scoring Criteria Transition: 2026 sits right at a change in our review categories and weighting, so this score isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison to reviews from nearby years under different criteria; worth keeping in mind if you’re tracking a haunt’s rating over time.

Summary

Now in its 30th season, Frightland manages to improve on itself every year. Already boasting one of the biggest and best hayrides in the area, there are 8 attractions total, and they are loaded with actors and animatronics. Frightland also boasts a full carnival with a Ferris Wheel and a huge food area, making this a full day’s destination if you have the energy. We found this year’s show to be quite scary and fast-paced throughout. There is so much going on at times that you have to keep your head on a swivel or you’ll miss something. The western… Read More…

Parking on-site with easy directions, then a 5-minute walk. Leave any pocketknives or anything considered weaponry behind, as you will not make it through security with them. We walked through the carnival to the ticket booth, which quickly took care of us, and we were off on our adventure. Port-a-pots are always within sight, and a massive bank of them right at the entrance to the 4 main attractions. Frightland has plenty of selfie opportunities, a nice gift shop, and many, many food options in the carnival area. Lines were well marked for VIP, and a helpful staffer directed haunt… Read More…

The live DJ and video show ramped up the excitement for the huge crowd as they waited for the hayride. The hayride opened with an animatronics show on both sides of the wagon to read the rules. This was a cool touch, and these were quality props. The hayride was busy with a lot of actors and a ton of animatronics. There didn’t seem to be a pause in the action even between scenes, as props and actors attacked the wagon evenly. Ravenwood Cemetery was bustling with scare actors who used the many props as distractions and got quite a… Read More…

Special Effects9.17

The hayride was a nonstop barrage of actors and special effects. You really had to look around to not miss something. Explosions, bungee attacks, even an IMF scene at the end that had the whole wagon literally rocking. The animatronics in Ravenwood actually got some scares, as they were perfectly timed and often rushed right at us. There were so many huge props. Idalia Manor was properly decorated with blood-stained walls and had flipping pool tables. Thunder and lightning effects, bungees. Frightland has as many huge animatronics as we’ve seen anywhere, and they all worked. The tunnel with the vortexes… Read More…

Actors were properly costumed and acted their parts. The strongest actors were in Zombie Town, which is heavily actor-driven, but the doorman for Idalia Manor and the guards at the Zombie Prison entrance get the biggest shout-outs. You WILL be treated as a prisoner, backs against the wall for reading of the rules before sending you in.

Every line has several roaming actors entertaining/scaring those awaiting their turn. Manor actors and Prison actors aren’t as interactive, but were energetic and inventive. Actors seemed trained not to give standard haunt talk.

Scare Factor8.7

Some of the attractions were VERY scary. Idalia Manor, though barely over 3.5 minutes, scared us about every 20 seconds. It was high intensity. Even on a busy night, Frightland sends you in small groups, and sometimes will send one of you in alone, which is one of our favorite opportunities. Ravenwood had nonstop actors and animatronics that got us a lot. Fear threw so many scare tactics at us and Zombie Prison was a fitting finale with its mix of light, dark, tunnels, fog, and actors. Prison had a soundtrack that was mostly zombies moaning at us in the… Read More…

Value9.41

We went on a Friday night, which was $45, including the carnival and all. Saturdays, it goes to $55. We spent 51 minutes across all the attractions, so the value is better than most (at 1.13 MPD) for Friday nights. It’s a LOT of haunt, plus a carnival (most weekends), and when this place is crowded, the atmosphere is electric.

VIP would cost $85, and you’ll still be busy for a good couple of hours skipping the lines. We recommend VIP if the hayride line is over half full.
