Summary

Haunted Hills Estate Scream Park opens its gates for another season of unforgettable scares. This attraction features three haunted experiences surrounding its midway: the brand-new Edgewood Asylum housed inside their barn, Twisted Nightmare 3D with its fully immersive clown-themed experience, and their haunted trail. Unfortunately, we couldn’t experience the trail during our visit because it was closed due to heavy rain and poor conditions. While it’s always disappointing to miss part of an attraction, we respect the decision. Rather than operating in potentially unsafe or uncomfortable conditions, Haunted Hills Estate chose to put guest safety first. It may not have… Read More…

Guest Experience9.2

Upon arrival, you’ll find a large grass parking field with attendants on hand to help direct traffic, making parking a simple and stress-free process. Before entering the scream park, you’ll need to stop at the ticket booth to pick up your tickets. Security was also present, using metal detector wands to screen guests before entry, which helped create a safe environment for everyone attending. As you make your way through the scream park, you’ll encounter several midway actors roaming the queue areas. We were honestly surprised by just how entertaining and interactive they were throughout our visit. Background music filled… Read More…

Immersion8.2

While waiting to enter Edgewood Asylum, we noticed that Haunted Hills Estate has kept the same barn facade from previous seasons. Honestly, this wasn’t an issue at all. The exterior of the barn is already beautiful in a creepy, unsettling way, and it still does an excellent job of setting the mood before you ever step inside. In fact, we feel that keeping this facade helps with immersion. Standing outside the weathered barn, knowing what’s waiting inside, does a great job of keeping you on edge before the experience even begins. Once we entered the asylum, however, it quickly became… Read More…

Special Effects7.8

Inside Edgewood Asylum, the sound design featured some effective sound effects and great music that helped establish the atmosphere. However, we do wish the audio was turned up a bit louder and distributed more evenly throughout the attraction. There were moments when the music and effects were working well, but we wanted to hear them more clearly as we moved from scene to scene. That said, this wasn’t a major issue. In some ways, the quieter atmosphere added to the uneasiness of the experience. The silence between sounds kept us on our toes and made us pay closer attention to… Read More…

Characters8.57

The characters this season were incredibly dedicated to their roles in both attractions. Every actor we encountered was committed to their scene and did an excellent job interacting with guests rather than simply delivering a quick scare and moving on. Their energy and enthusiasm helped make each room feel alive, and it was clear that they were fully invested in creating an entertaining experience. Inside Edgewood Asylum, one of our favorite performances came from a character in the basement who acted as though they had been cleaning the facility for countless hours. Their mannerisms, dialogue, and commitment to the role… Read More…

Scare Factor8.09

Both attractions delivered plenty of solid scares the night we went. The actors did a great job keeping us on edge, and we appreciated the variety of scare techniques used throughout the experience. Instead of using the same approach in every room, the performers mixed things up and kept us guessing as we moved from scene to scene. We especially enjoyed the placement of the air blasters, which were positioned where guests least expected them. When combined with the actors’ timing, these effects delivered some effective startle scares throughout the night. The actors themselves also did an excellent job creating… Read More…

Value8.18

Tickets for Edgewood Asylum and Twisted Nightmare 3D start at $30 for General Admission, while Fast Pass admission starts at $45. During our visit, we spent a total of 27.5 minutes experiencing both attractions. Based on the General Admission price, that works out to be approximately 0.92 MPD (minutes per dollar). For those familiar with our reviews, we generally like to see attractions reach around 1.0 MPD, so Haunted Hills Estate comes very close to hitting that benchmark. That’s a positive sign because it shows guests are receiving a solid amount of entertainment for the price of admission. Of course,… Read More…
