What They Liked Most:
$50 General admin, $70 fast pass tickets after 15% early bird discount. Very expensive tickets for attraction of this tier. Ample parking and quick ac... cess through ticketing area despite long line. Ample midway with games, bar area, concessions, tshirt sales, axe throwing, fire pits and good seating. Three separate attractions included with ticket: main trail, clown attraction, hayride. Main trail ran 19:49 minutes, .54 miles. Between 20-25 vignettes installed along trail. No specific notable themes, just general spooky stuff decoration. Set dressing relied heavily on plywood, pallets, bed sheets, pool noodles, and sheet plastic. Set dressings were rudimentary and lacked good finish, sparse props. The soundscape was intermittent, with ocassional sound effects in the various vigniettes. Lighting was excellent, good mix of light and shadow contrast to create good atmosphere and good actor hide spots. 40 actors counted along trail. costumes were simple, and makeup/masks were minimalist. Regardless, these teen actors did a great job of staging their jump scares, making use of height (both high and low), and lighting/shadow. The actors would know when you were blinded by light in certain choke points and would jump you in the dark area just beyond the light. I dont get surprised often, and 5-6 actors got a really unexpected drop on me. The pacing this year was better than all prior years I visited. I entered and went straight to front of line. I never saw another group in front or behind.Read More
Suggested Improvements:
$70 is the price for a national tier haunted house. This is a local tier haunted house. For that much you should expect movie quality set dressing, ch... aracters, props and effects. Leech Woods needs to reinvest their heavy entrance fee into upgraded set dressing, quality props, animatronics, special effects, and professional makeup and costumes for their actors. There is a lot of trail to cover in 0.5 miles, but I would rather see less, but more meaningfully detailed, set pieces than the current effort to maintain a large volume of low quality vigniettes and props.
