Summary

Tucked off the beaten path in Clarksville, Indiana is an imposing, crumbling old mansion. It was once home to an esteemed man known only as β€œLord Rancor”, who traveled the world in search of rare oddities that he could bring home and add to his collection. Of course, many of us are familiar with the story of Pandora’s Box, and what happened when it was opened… and poor Rancor fell into a similar situation, inevitably bringing home something that wound up cursing not only himself and his wife, but his entire home and everyone else residing in it. People who… Read More…

If you’re watching from the road, Malice Manor isn’t too hard to spot. There was a banner above the front doors, and flashing lights helped to draw attention to the building. Parking was wherever we could find some, but all of it was free. As we left our chosen parking spot and approached the haunt, a little line had been set up for the ticket window, which was clearly marked with a bright sign. General Admission tickets were $25.00, with a couple of faster options available at an additional cost. Once we had our tickets and went inside, finding our… Read More…

From the moment we entered the building, Malice began to pull us into their world and the story they’d written. Both the lobby and queue had scenery to make it feel like we were approaching an old, derelict mansion. As we got closer to the front of the line, we found ourselves admiring the beautiful manor facade that formed the entrance to the main haunt. There was a platform up above that seemed perfect for allowing actors to mess with guests, or possibly having small shows in the future. With some general β€œscary” themes included, like spiders, most of Malice… Read More…

Special Effects9.09

Malice Manor packed a large amount of props and special effects into their show to help drag guests even deeper into Lord Rancor’s nightmare. An ominous soundtrack played throughout the house, with some breaks here and there, like the growling metal track playing in the taxidermy room. Several animatronics were used, and most of these were positioned for scares, including a massive one we won’t spoil, but it might just have you walking the plank! Other cool automated effects included a seemingly innocent portrait coming to life and inanimate objects- a door, the fireplace, etc.- moving on their own. Some… Read More…

Characters9.05

The smaller creatures in the white dresses, roaming in the queue, gave us a not-too-gentle reminder that size does not matter! Those two were a terrifying duo, ready for the kill. One group member quickly regretted saying anything in their direction! Props to them – they truly set the mood. Much like their dark feathered friend who escaped the mansion for a bit to join in the hunt! Those within the mansion walls served energy at terrifying levels. Blending with the scenery, jumping out from seemingly nowhere, and creeping up on us to strike when we least expected them. There… Read More…

Scare Factor9.17

It was quite unwelcoming when the door opened on its own, while we were told we could β€œgo on through”… to the dimly lit mansion, down a hallway that was far too quiet! We were forced by fright into the fireplace, and held way longer than necessary in a few areas of the mansion, which fueled the fear, leaving us feeling on edge and uncertain. Some of the automated scares, like air blasts, got us good as we walked through the house! There were a few new additions to the haunt itself, and we will not ruin anything for future… Read More…

Value8.56

Malice Manor is a great value. General Admission is $25 per ticket with an approximate walkthrough of 23 minutes, bringing the MPD (Minutes Per Dollar) rating to 0.92. Nice! They had two food stands while we were there with delicious dirty sodas, various hot chocolate flavors, hot dogs, cookies, and soups… the kind of fuel needed to survive the scary. We also had a lot of fun in the queue with the actors, a movie was playing on the wall while we waited to enter the haunt, and the haunt itself was electrifying! We hope you go and experience the… Read More…
