Summary

At the corner of 4th Street and Heywood Avenue, The Haunted Hotel didn’t simply stand: she watched. Her walls towered over the sidewalk like a hungry beast, and something deep inside rumbled beneath our feet. The sound was almost a cry, but not one of pain. It was the growl of something waiting for its next victim. And she already chose her first victims, sending her minions outside to trap two members of our group in a cage, where we were swiftly wheeled away. It was almost like being in Cinderella’s carriage – until, that is, the taunting and chainsaw… Read More…

Guest Experience9.11

Making our way to check-in at the Hotel was easy enough. Located in the heart of Louisville, our GPS easily led us there. A friendly parking attendant helped us park and directed us where to go; The Haunted Hotel has a parking lot with paid parking for $10- it’s the gravel lot just past the haunt- or you may be able to find a free space on the nearby streets. Heading to the ticket booth and then to the line was clear (not all of us got a carriage ride!). General Admission the night of our visit was $30, with… Read More…

On busy 4th Street in Louisville, KY, sits the Fourth Street Hotel, a.k.a. The Haunted Hotel! This haunt did a great job of changing what would normally be called a B&B to look like a bona fide hotel. A large neon sign on the exterior proclaimed the hotel. The porch was bathed in red light, and a corrugated steel sliding door barring our way created a knot of unease in our stomachs from the very start. As we went to enter the Hotel, the bellhop threw open the door, grabbed us by our heads, and pulled us into the lobby.… Read More…

Special Effects8.76

The Haunted Hotel utilized many different special effects to bring the story of the Fourth Street Hotel to life. Audio was used well throughout the haunt to enhance the creep factor, such as the old-fashioned music that frequently played from room to room, the hiss of steam and the drip of water coming from aged pipes, and at one point, a brief metal track. We noticed that the background audio grew more ominous after we made it through the indoor portion of the haunt and ventured downstairs. Most sets, indoor and outdoor, were highly detailed too. Many rooms seemed like… Read More…

Characters9.17

The Fourth Street Hotel was fully staffed and ready for service! This haunt was packed to the brim with actors that made sure we were on our toes and covered in all manner of grossness the entire time. There was almost no dead space in the haunt. Monsters were everywhere, and SFX were always used in conjunction with actors and not in place of them. The actors knew and embodied their characters throughout the haunt. They were able to banter with guests and never allowed the improv to slip. All of the actors were high-energy and very engaging with guests.… Read More…

Scare Factor8.94

Haunted Hotel warns you what you’re in for when buying a ticket. When they say you WILL be touched, that is not an idle threat or empty promise. As we said above, before we even got in the door, we were stuffed in a sketchy carriage, doused in questionable fluids, and made to kneel in the rain. Once inside, where it was not so easy to escape, the intensity grew from there. If you have a weak stomach, we suggest you steel yourself – you’ll find black slime smeared on you, shaving cream liberally applied to your face, given a… Read More…

Value8.36

From the moment we were yoinked through the front door- one by one- to hauling butt down the alley with chainsaws roaring at our heels, our stay at the Haunted Hotel clocked in at a torturous 28 (!) minutes. With a base ticket price of $30 the night of our visit, that gives the Hotel an MPD (Minutes Per Dollar) rating of 0.93. That’s a long time when you’ve got a bunch of crazies hell-bent on making sure you don’t get to β€œcheck out”! Possessed by an evil our human minds couldn’t begin to comprehend, the Fourth Street Hotel demands… Read More…

The only thing I didn't care for was a slider character outside making tiktoks and stealing all the attention away from the line entertainment.
