Summary

Terror Mills has been bringing scares to Jackson, Georgia, for 11 years, with the past five seasons spent in its current home: an old elementary school. The building provides a fitting setting for a haunt that takes guests through a variety of themed environments, from an eerie old manor to a Stranger Things-inspired area, creepy swamps, and clown-filled scenes. With memorable characters, creative effects, and a steady mix of scares, Terror Mills offers a varied haunted experience in a location that already has plenty of atmosphere of its own.

Guest Experience9.27

Terror Mills was relatively easy to locate, although a sign along the road would make finding the attraction even easier for first-time visitors. Despite the late hour of our arrival, the haunt still drew a sizable crowd. Guests will find plenty of free parking, with porta-potties conveniently located in the lot. While Terror Mills doesn’t have a traditional midway like some other haunts, there is a large open area in front of the attraction and queue lines where guests can visit the ticket booth, browse the gift shop, or grab something from the concession stand. Music also plays in the… Read More…

Immersion7.87

The immersion at Terror Mills begins with the ringing of a school bell, signaling that it’s time to enter the building and begin your adventure. From there, guests make their way through a series of distinct themed areas, each offering a different setting along the journey. Our experience began in an old manor, where we were greeted by the lord of the manor, who may well have been the standout character of the evening. Several detailed rooms helped establish the manor’s atmosphere before we transitioned into an area inspired by Stranger Things. The connection feels especially fitting, as Jackson, Georgia,… Read More…

Special Effects7.93

Terror Mills made use of a variety of special effects throughout its different themed areas, helping give each section its own atmosphere. Dim lighting was a consistent feature throughout the haunt, with some areas, particularly the Stranger Things section, kept so dark that it was difficult to take in all the scenic details. In contrast, several rooms in the manor and clown areas used well-placed detail lighting to highlight their surroundings. The swamp section made effective use of fog and water effects to bring its environment to life, while audio changed from one themed area to the next, with sound… Read More…

Characters8.01

Each themed area at Terror Mills featured a cast of characters, with the clown section boasting the largest number of performers. The Stranger Things area, by comparison, could have benefited from a few additional actors to help bring its scenes to life. Many of the characters had distinct personalities, and a few stood out as especially memorable. The lord of the manor greeted us at the very beginning of the haunt and was an instant favorite. His rapid-fire delivery, full of Southern charm and more than a little humor, made for an entertaining introduction that almost distracted us from the… Read More…

Scare Factor7.95

There were scares to be found throughout nearly every section of Terror Mills, with most scenes featuring at least one actor ready to catch us off guard. The clown area was particularly active, with several scenes featuring multiple performers working together to target our group and keep us guessing. Some characters used engaging dialogue to draw us into their encounters, while others relied on more traditional scare tactics, including sudden yelling, grunting, and familiar commands like “get out” and “move faster.” The consistently dim lighting and themed audio helped establish an eerie atmosphere, while the transitions between the different areas… Read More…

Value7.72

Our total walkthrough time at Terror Mills was 19 minutes, and the general admission combo ticket cost $25. This works out to an MPD (minutes per dollar) ratio of 0.76, which is in line with the value we’ve come to expect from many haunted attractions in our coverage area. Beyond the walkthrough itself, guests can enjoy interactions with roaming actors in the queue area, where performers entertain those waiting and are happy to pose for photos. These additional encounters offer a little extra entertainment and give guests a chance to meet some of the characters before heading inside.
