Tucked away in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, Terror Shed Haunted House, or TS for short, gives you the feeling that you are heading somewhere you probably should not be going before you even arrive. On our drive in, a massive amount of fog covered the road ahead of us. We were wondering where it could be coming from until we realized our destination was the source.
This was our first visit to Terror Shed, and we quickly learned that this haunt has a lot of heart behind it. Terror Shed began in 2021 when founders Hunter Sabish and Kaleb Eggers opened the attraction while they were freshmen in high school. What started as a small, haunted shed has continued to grow, with the attraction being redesigned and rebuilt over the years. The operation is staffed by volunteers and has maintained a strong focus on giving back to the surrounding community.
For 2026, the attraction received a major overhaul, and the amount of passion put into it was noticeable throughout our visit. This season had a massive revamp throughout the whole haunt.
TS may not have the massive footprint of some of Wisconsin’s larger commercial attractions, but it makes excellent use of the space it has. Detailed rooms, tight passageways, actors who can attack from multiple directions, sensory effects, creative lighting, and some surprisingly elaborate scenes kept the walkthrough constantly changing.
The experience outside the haunt deserves recognition as well. Between the fire pit, games, concessions, merchandise, photo opportunities, and other places to hang out, TS has created something that feels less like waiting outside a haunted house and more like spending a Halloween night at someone’s extremely elaborate haunted backyard gathering.
For a haunt built from humble beginnings, Terror Shed showed us just how far creativity, passion, and a dedicated group of volunteers can go.
