Each area features its own soundscape, combining ambient audio with effects tied to specific props and scares. While a few scream boxes and speakers were visible, they weren’t distracting enough to take away from the scenes, and the audio generally fit each setting well. There were a handful of spots where slightly louder volume could have made an even greater impact.
Lighting was consistently well done, with each area striking an appropriate balance between visibility and darkness. Accent lighting was used throughout the attraction to ensure that scenic details didn’t go unnoticed, including in a particularly impressive 3D clown area that looked great even without the need for 3D glasses. That section also featured a vortex tunnel that may be the best we’ve encountered so far this season! Fog was used in several areas at levels that enhanced the atmosphere without becoming overwhelming, while air blasters provided additional surprises in key locations. We also encountered a variety of animatronics, although a few didn’t trigger as our group passed by, possibly due to the close spacing between groups moving through the haunt.
Some of our favorite effects involved the flooring, with squishy surfaces, a tilting walkway, and several panels that moved beneath our feet. One squishy-floor section was paired with a long claustrophobia bag, creating an especially entertaining combination. Adding to the novelty, this was the first white claustrophobia bag we’ve encountered, offering a different look and feel from the traditional black versions. Water effects also appeared in several scenes, and unlike attractions where only the first person in line gets sprayed, these were designed to ensure that everyone in the group got wet! Overall, Atrox Factory offers an impressive variety of effects, with its creative flooring elements, memorable vortex tunnel, and group-wide water surprises standing out as particular highlights.
