Summary

Boogerwoods is a one-of-a-kind charity haunt that proves you can deliver outrageous Southern humor, inventive horror, and genuinely impressive scares while supporting a wonderful cause. With nearly fifty years of experience behind it, this team has built an interconnected universe packed with original characters, elaborate homemade effects, animatronics, and scenes that swing from hilariously ridiculous to downright terrifying. Every stop brings something different, whether it’s the wonderfully unhinged residents of Boogerwoods, a cinematic nightmare that sends an entire group into panic, or the physically demanding spectacle of Flatback. The guided groups add another layer of personality, making each trip feel… Read More…

Guest Experience9.63

Boogerwoods is a charity haunt that donates its proceeds to the Cure for Cystic Fibrosis, and they have a website with very clear instructions on their system of ticketing. No fast passes are sold; guests buy tickets the day they want to visit, and then choose a time block where they will be put in groups of ten to go through the haunt with two guides. Each set of guides is different and provides a different experience going through the haunt, which encourages coming back more than once. The team here has been running this haunt for almost fifty years,… Read More…

The parking lot is full of haunt-related, thematic vehicles and props leading into an area that lets you take spooky photo ops. You’re then led into a holding chamber when you first enter Boogerwoods, and from that point forward, everything outside of the haunt is gone. You travel from scene to scene, and while each is part of the Booger universe, there are many worlds that have been built here, and they all keep you isolated from the real world. Sets utilize lights, props, animatronics, and their own homemade special effects to build a setting that feels real and that… Read More…

Special Effects9

Boogerwoods always excels in this category because they have a team that builds sets that you will only see here. They have managed to recreate a tornado, build a full and interconnected universe, and make you really question if cursed discount vans are worth the discount. The animatronics are stunning, but they are also used to distract guests so that haunters can swoop in and really drive the terror through the roof. Boogerasic Park has a lot of tricks, and this year it made that teenage daughter stare with her mouth hanging open, led off in her shock by her… Read More…

Characters9.13

This year was our first year with Darlene, Randy, and their chain-smoking baby. They were perfect for Boogerwoods, bringing a lot of Southern charm with some inbred hilarity. In the Doll Room, two dolls managed to utilize the lighting to sneak up on us right before our eyes. Every monster came at this haunt with energy through the roof. The haunters that were working Flatback this year put in heavy physical labor as always to deliver a mind-blowing show. Earl was not only believable but probably the most put-upon repairman and funeral home director we’ve ever met. The bartender in… Read More…

Scare Factor8.97

In the very first scene the teen daughter of the family in our group leapt off the ground and grabbed onto her father, hanging off him like a koala and shrieking while the grandmother grabbed onto the youngest member of our team. It only got worse for her and her grandmother from there. It was one of the funniest things we have ever seen at a haunted house. This is a high-octane redneck haunt, and it does not pull punches. Every scene has a different surprise attached to it, and some are animatronic while others are purely character delivered. We… Read More…

Value10

Boogerwoods is a one-of-a-kind haunt that has special effects and scenes you will see nowhere else. It is an experience, and the $30 it will cost you is a ridiculously good deal. This is a long haunt that really delivers both high-energy fun and visceral horror. It took an hour to go through! This puts their minutes-per-dollar ratio among the highest this year at 2 MPD! It’s also nice to know that the proceeds from this haunt go to the cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Parking is free, and because of the way they handle ticketing, there is no fast pass… Read More…
