Scoring Criteria Transition: 2026 sits right at a change in our review categories and weighting, so this score isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison to reviews from nearby years under different criteria; worth keeping in mind if you’re tracking a haunt’s rating over time.

Summary

Burial Chamber, or BC for short, continues to offer a full night of haunting with three distinctly different attractions: Adrenaline, Insanity, and Phobia. Rather than trying to tie everything together with one overarching storyline, each attraction delivers its own style. Phobia takes you outdoors and into the woods, Insanity mixes traditional haunting styles with funhouse-style disorientation, and Adrenaline relies heavily on darkness, noise, and more aggressive scares. One of BC’s strengths is how much variety you experience without ever leaving the complex. Between attractions, the midway keeps the night moving with music, video screens, roaming characters, concessions, merchandise, and entertainment… Read More…

Guest Experience9.44

BC starts building the experience before you ever enter the first haunt. Parking, ticketing, the midway, gift shop, video screens, music, and roaming characters give the property the feeling of a Halloween destination rather than simply a building you walk through and leave. Line entertainment was one of the highlights of the evening. In particular, the guitar-playing character brought some personality to the wait and stood out enough to earn one of our actor shout-outs. Having characters and entertainment outside the attractions helped bridge the downtime between waits. Moving between the three attractions was straightforward, with each exit naturally bringing… Read More…

Immersion8.85

BC doesn’t depend on one elaborate storyline to pull you into its world. Instead, the three attractions establish their identities primarily through atmosphere, sound, environments, and characters. As there is no specific storyline, you can find a small description of each haunt on the website that matches the experience you will encounter when visiting. Phobia benefits enormously from something that’s impossible to manufacture: the woods themselves. The trails’ darkness, trees, and vegetation naturally make you question what you’re hearing and what might be waiting ahead. Once you add spooky sound effects, fog, hanging materials you must move through, and actors… Read More…

Special Effects8.47

BC uses a little bit of everything when it comes to effects, and we appreciate that it didn’t depend exclusively on animatronics to generate reactions. Sound was especially effective throughout the night. Phobia uses sound to give the woods life beyond what you can see, while the indoor attractions use loud noises and sudden audio cues to help set up scares. Music also changed appropriately with different environments rather than feeling like one soundtrack had simply been placed over the entire attraction. There were plenty of physical effects to keep us occupied as well: dropping heads, air blasts, uneven flooring,… Read More…

Characters8.55

BC cast gave us a nice mixture of performance styles instead of relying entirely on actors jumping out and screaming. We encountered snarling and moaning creatures, more conversational characters, clowns, characters hiding within their environments, and performers directly addressing our group while talking. One of our members’ most memorable encounters happened in Phobia when a character kept asking to be our friend, even extending their long green fingers as if to hold a hand. It wasn’t simply another quick jump scare, but it was weird, personal, and creepy enough that we were still talking about her afterward. She earned our… Read More…

Scare Factor8.42

BC attacks from enough different directions that eventually someone in your group is probably getting caught. Be aware that the talent in the cast here will leave you on the edge, as you do not know if they will be coming from above, below, or at the side, which keeps you on your toes. Phobia relies primarily on anticipation. Walking through dark woods naturally puts you on alert, and the actors take advantage of different elevations and hiding places. Scares came from above and below; performers followed behind us, and one actor even went directly for one of our team… Read More…

Value9.03

With three major haunted attractions available at the same location, BC gives guests considerably more than a single walk-through for their evening. Each haunt feels different enough to justify experiencing all three. Phobia’s outdoor wooded environment provides a major change of pace from the indoor attractions, while Insanity’s funhouse-like environments and Adrenaline’s darker, louder approach keep the two indoor experiences from feeling identical. The midway also adds value to the overall night. Music, screens, roaming actors, concessions, merchandise, and line entertainment mean you’re still within the spooky atmosphere while moving between attractions rather than simply standing outside waiting for the… Read More…
