Dead Acres Haunted Hoochie Review (2026)

We’ve visited Haunted Hoochie before, and this time our GPS took us to the right location but the wrong entrance. Small, illuminated signs directed guests where to enter for parking, but we almost missed them because we didn’t notice them until the last second. Once we found the correct entrance, parking attendants directed traffic and showed guests where to park.

Keep in mind that the parking area is a grass lot, so if it has recently rained or the weather is wet, it can get quite muddy. Also, you will need to pay $5 to park.

After parking, we quickly located the ticket booth. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, providing clear information about ticket prices, where to go, and what to expect. In fact, every member we interacted with throughout the night was welcoming and professional.

While waiting in line, plenty of entertainment kept guests occupied. Music played throughout the queue area while a large screen showed music videos. The famous cage dancers were also performing, adding to the energetic atmosphere. There was even a stage where performers would occasionally put on mini shows and toss items into the crowd. One of the biggest crowd-pleasers was the large balls bouncing throughout the queue line. Between all the entertainment and constant activity, the wait seemed to pass very quickly.

The ticketing process and queue flow were handled well overall. Since they allowed many guests into the attraction at once, the line moved at a steady pace. The night we attended wasn’t particularly busy, but for some reason it felt like nearly twenty guests were sent through together. While it kept the line moving, it did make us question why such a large group was admitted at one time when crowd levels were relatively light.

When making your way through the attraction, use caution, as there are several gravel pathways and uneven surfaces throughout the experience. During our visit, we encountered quite a bit of mud and puddles due to recent weather conditions. Since portions of the attraction are outdoors, we recommend wearing appropriate footwear and dressing accordingly to ensure a more comfortable experience.

The exterior areas of this attraction are exceptionally well done, thanks to the incredible amount of detail packed into every corner. Guests will find several photo opportunities throughout the midway, along with unique features such as a retired mini roller coaster and a real Ferris wheel spinning overhead. The setting truly feels like an abandoned amusement park brought back to life, creating a creepy, immersive atmosphere before you even step inside.

Once inside, there isn’t a defined storyline, but the attraction does an excellent job of presenting a variety of distinct themes. Each scene is easy to identify and packed with disturbing details. One memorable example is a baby butcher shop, complete with baby mannequins being processed throughout the scene. This attraction doesn’t hold back on its horror elements and delivers an intense experience that may be too much for some guests.

One thing we noticed almost immediately was that we found ourselves stuck in a conga line for much of the attraction. We’re not entirely sure what caused it; it may have been related to the rain or an approaching storm, but regardless of the reason, it took away from the experience. The attraction is best experienced with some spacing between groups, and unfortunately that wasn’t the case during this visit, as we’ve never been paired with quite that many people here before.

After completing the attractions, guests exit back into the midway where the atmosphere remains just as energetic and immersive as it was before entering. It’s a great place to stick around and take everything in. You can watch other guests sprinting out of the attraction after a scare, enjoy the music playing throughout the area, or take advantage of the various photo opportunities. The exterior is filled with impressive details, making it worth spending a few extra minutes exploring and capturing photos before heading home.

The sound design at this haunted attraction was a bit hit-or-miss during our visit. We understand that operating both indoor and outdoor sections can present unique challenges, but it felt like some of the speakers were producing excessive static, which unfortunately took away from the atmosphere in certain areas. This is something we haven’t noticed here on previous visits, and it is worth noting that we attended during opening weekend. On a positive note, there was audio and music throughout the entire attraction, helping to maintain energy and immersion as we moved from scene to scene.

One of the attraction’s biggest strengths is its incredibly detailed scenes. From the Gorilla Room to Flight 666 and the impressive ocean-themed area, every scene is packed with detail and designed to fully immerse guests in the experience. The level of creativity and execution throughout the attraction is truly impressive.

The ocean scene was one of our personal favorites because of how unique and engaging it felt. It delivered a sense of adventure, humor, and excitement that stood out from the rest of the attraction. After all, how many haunted attractions can say they have a submarine as part of their experience? Haunted Hoochie is the only haunt we’ve encountered that has incorporated something like that, making it one of the most memorable scenes of the night.

The animatronics at this attraction are among the best we have ever seen in a haunted house. Their size, placement, and creativity add another layer of immersion to an already impressive experience. One standout moment is the hallway filled with gorilla animatronics, a scene unlike anything we’ve encountered at another haunt. The dragon animatronics were equally memorable, especially one dramatic effect featuring a dragon emerging from an egg. The quality and originality of these effects helped create several unforgettable moments throughout the attraction.

The lighting design is another area where Haunted Hoochie excels. The attraction makes extensive use of strobe lighting and other visual effects to enhance the atmosphere and amplify the intensity of key scenes. When used correctly, lighting can completely transform a haunted attraction, and the team here does an excellent job of using it to create suspense, disorientation, and impactful scares.

Throughout the main attraction, we encountered a decent number of actors, but there were several areas that felt noticeably empty. At times, we found ourselves anticipating a scare or interaction, only for no actor to appear. We understand that this was opening weekend and staffing challenges are always a possibility, so this may improve as the season progresses. The 3D attraction was also light, with only a handful of actors present during our visit.

Every actor we encountered delivered a fun, memorable performance. They were highly interactive, stayed committed to their characters, and weren’t afraid to engage directly with guests. Visitors should be aware that many of the actors use crude and vulgar language as part of the experience, which adds to the attraction’s edgy and adult-oriented atmosphere. If that type of humor or interaction isn’t your thing, it’s something to keep in mind before visiting.

The costumes were a mixed bag overall. Some were incredibly detailed and brought their scenes to life, while others were much simpler, consisting mainly of dark clothing paired with makeup effects. Even so, there were a few standout characters that left a lasting impression. One of our favorites was the mermaid in the ocean scene, whose appearance fit the theme perfectly. Another unforgettable character was a performer sporting a chicken attached to his waist, if you’ve seen the scene, you already know exactly what joke they were going for. It was one of the funniest moments of the night and had guests laughing as much as they were screaming.

One thing we did miss from previous years was the presence of actors dressed as gorillas in the Gorilla Room. Those costumes have always been among our favorites and helped make that section feel even more immersive. Unfortunately, we didn’t encounter them during this visit, but we’re hopeful they’ll make a return later in the season because they have been some of the most memorable costumes Haunted Hoochie has offered in the past.

Haunted Hoochie is known for being an extreme haunted attraction, and guests should be prepared for a highly interactive experience. Throughout the attraction, actors may invade your personal space, grab your attention, verbally taunt you, guide you through scenes, or incorporate you directly into the show. At times, it can feel like absolutely anything could happen, which is a major part of what makes this attraction stand out from more traditional haunted houses.

The intensity level here is not for everyone. It’s common to see guests sprinting through scenes or rushing toward exits after particularly intense encounters. The actors are relentless in their pursuit of scares and will often single out members of a group to maximize reactions. There are also numerous physical effects used throughout the attraction, some of which may catch guests off guard, adding another layer of unpredictability to the experience.

Compared to previous years, however, the interaction level was slightly toned down during our visit. While the attraction was still intense, it didn’t quite reach the same level of aggression that we’ve experienced here in the past. Considering we attended during opening weekend and weather conditions were less than ideal, there may have been operational reasons for this. Even so, Haunted Hoochie remains one of the most intense, haunted attractions we’ve visited and continues to offer an experience unlike almost anything else in the industry.

During our visit, it took us approximately 18 minutes to complete the main attraction. Surprisingly, it felt longer than that because of how much is packed into the experience. The sheer number of scenes, effects, and unique environments creates a sense of scale that makes the attraction feel larger than its actual walkthrough time.

As mentioned above, it felt like groups were being pushed through the attraction at a faster rate than we’ve encountered here before. As a result, we didn’t always have enough time to fully appreciate the detailed sets and elaborate scenes. Slowing things down just a bit would have allowed guests to take in more of the incredible work that has gone into the attraction.

General Admission tickets are priced at $35, while VIP admission costs $60. Based on our walkthrough time, our Minutes Per Dollar (MPD) came out to 0.51, which is on the lower end compared to many haunted attractions (the average is 1 minute per dollar). However, the Haunted Hoochie can’t be judged solely by its runtime. The creativity, originality, and extreme nature of the experience make it a destination haunt that stands apart from nearly everything else in the industry. Even with a lower MPD score, we still recommend it because there truly isn’t another haunt quite like it.
