Scoring Criteria Transition: 2026 sits right at a change in our review categories and weighting, so this score isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison to reviews from nearby years under different criteria; worth keeping in mind if you’re tracking a haunt’s rating over time.

Summary

The Spurlock family is holding a dark and twisted secret, and only the brave will make it out of the property alive. If you think you can navigate the cornfield and avoid the creatures lurking inside, you might be able to discover what they are hiding. This outdoor haunt is approximately 1.5 miles long. It seemed like it was level ground, but there were a few hills and inclines. The haunt says on their website that they do not recommend it for wheelchair users or those with mobility issues, especially if it’s muddy. I did notice fog machines, loud sounds,… Read More…

Reaching this haunt was very easy to find off the main road, and they had parking attendants helping to direct traffic and get everyone situated as quickly as possible. The parking lot didn’t seem like it was very big for the size of the attraction, but since tickets were timed, they may not need a huge lot. It’s a very well-organized and thought-out attraction. You enter from the parking lot, walk over to the ticket booth to trade in your digital tickets for physical ones. Then you are guided through security (bag check with the metal wands) before lining up… Read More…

Immersion8.2

The haunt is based on the story of Spurlock family and the chilling things that happen on their haunted land. You start inside this old room in the Spurlock family home before transitioning into a run-down shack, then placed into a literal cornfield. As you navigate the field, you walk through different shacks, rooms, and scare zones on the Spurlock family’s land, each with their own unique theme. Each transitions out into the corn again, where more creatures are waiting to greet you. I will say it did get a little repetitive after seeing the corn so many times, but… Read More…

Special Effects8

Key lighting was used throughout the haunt to help give rooms and scare zones a more eerie feel, and tall floodlights for the corn fields to create shadows and dark zones without going completely dark. One of the most unexpected effects I noticed about this haunt was a natural effect that I don’t think was even planned. There was a point in the haunt where the bright lights were filtering through the corn stalks, casting crazy shadows. Usually shadows don’t get to me, but these were playing tricks on my eyes. I would swear someone was coming up from behind,… Read More…

Characters6.85

It seemed like there were a lot of characters that were in jumpsuits and animal masks throughout the haunt, as well as lots of clowns. There were some additional unique hillbilly characters and a few creatures that also stayed with the theme of the haunt. Some featured very detailed masks and costumes, while others had face paint, fake blood, and simplified costumes. Because it was a haunted trail, and a little on the darker side in some spots, it was harder to see the full detail of the costumes. All of them looked like original characters, and I didn’t see… Read More…

Scare Factor7.23

This haunt used a variety of scare techniques, the majority of which were quick jump scares. They did have characters that followed you and got in your face (but did not touch you), banging on things, and setting off loud horns. Actors were able to provide scares from all directions and worked everyone in the group. They popped out of everywhere, and you couldn’t see them hiding in the corn even though they were so close. If you were lucky, they might rustle the corn before they jumped, but most had perfected the scares, and you had zero warning. By… Read More…

Value7.86

While I was going to buy regular tickets, I found a pre-season VIP sale on Facebook and ended up buying an anytime ticket with Fast Pass for only $32. This is the same price as a general admission ticket, but with cool perks. It worked out great since I wasn’t sure what day or time, I was going to be there with the other haunts I wanted to visit, and I was able to skip right to the front of the line with the Fast Pass. Normally I don’t use Fast Pass, but this time I was glad I did.… Read More…
