Summary

When you arrive at Walters, you’re greeted with their family-friendly pumpkin patch facade. Don’t let this fool you, they are hiding creatures in the back 40 and in the barns where the kids can’t see. This haunt is mostly indoors between two barn haunts, but there is some outdoor haunt areas as well. There is uneven flooring and steep ramps so it maynot be ideal for those with mobility issues. There was also flashing lights and fog, so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to those things. There was some use of gore, but nothing too excessive and… Read More…

Driving up the highway, I saw flashing road lights, and they had a road sign that said “The Haunt”. Since it’s along a highway, I could see someone easily missing the turn, which made this a perfect way to spot it. The parking lot was well lit by the haunt entrance buildings, with gravel and dirt parking options. The website has some good basic details about the haunt, buying tickets, and contact details, but is mostly dedicated to the pumpkin patch venture, which is their main attraction during the day. At the time of the haunt, there weren’t any concession… Read More…

Immersion7.2

Once you get your ticket, a tractor and trailer will take you down to the haunt area. A queue line actor will scare you as you approach and direct you where to go. The queue line is made of metal cattle railing to match the farm theme. When you are let in, you’ll be weaving through a pasture with pallet fencing as you make your way to the first haunted barn. You’ll encounter scare actors along the way, and since the path is dimly lit, it lets the actors hide in the shadows. There are two haunt barns you’ll go… Read More…

Special Effects6.2

Overall, the haunt was well lit, which is important considering the constant elevation changes throughout. They did use some key and colored lighting to help set some of the scenes and contrast with moments of darkness. There were also moments of flashing lights, but I wouldn’t call it strobe lighting. There wasn’t really any overhead music throughout the haunt, but the moments of silence were broken up by actors banging on things, sirens and alarms going off, and of course lots of screaming from actors and patrons alike. They did have some music playing in a few certain areas, but… Read More…

Characters6.7

There are about 40+ actors located around this haunt in various costumes and characters. There were lots of clowns, especially in the first barn, but there were also several creatures with animal and burlap masks. Just be careful of the bunny between the barns. He is not cute and cuddly, and I wouldn’t make friends with him; I can see it ending badly. Most of the characters seemed to be unique, and I don’t recall seeing any stereotypical scream or licensed masks or costumes. I did see a rodeo Grinch costume on one of the queue line managers, which was… Read More…

Scare Factor6.83

One of the unique scares with this haunt was the disorientation from the constant turning and the ramps up and down. You honestly have no idea where you are in the haunt, and if you are afraid of heights, this one might get you. Some parts in the haunt you are able to look down and see the lower levels below you. They do have some netting for safety and camouflage reasons, but it’s interesting to see two stories down. Also, the hallways felt pretty narrow at times, so if you are claustrophobic and afraid of heights, you’re in for… Read More…

Value7.26

A general admission ticket was $32, and the haunt with the queue line wait lasted about 30 minutes. Putting this at an average MPD in haunt time. You also get a free photo op at the end if you want, with your phone and a scare actor, which was a nice touch. This haunt has done special events for Valentine’s Day and other holidays in the past, so if you didn’t make it out for their Halloween haunt, you might be able to catch them at one of their special events throughout the year. Haunt at Walters proves that the… Read More…
