While I remember having a really great experience the first time I went to Hysteria years ago, it seems like the quality has declined pretty steeply i... n recent years. We paid for the VIP option as we knew it would be crowded, but even with VIP we waited awhile (I think if we'd only had general admission, it would have been a multiple hours long wait). I would not have minded the VIP wait if the groups had been properly spaced out, but we kept running into the group ahead of us. Additionally, there's a major lack of scare actors - perhaps to save money, they've invested in animatronics on timers rather than actors. Most of these were activated by the group ahead of us, so we could never be surprised by them, and generally the timer didn't have enough time to reset for it to go off when we went by. Overall, the whole farm felt super crowded and overrun. I have to imagine some of this is spillover effect from nearby Salem crowds, and the fact that there's a shortage of haunts in this area, but I won't be returning to Hysteria at Connors Farm in future. If I'm looking for positives, the trail is pretty long and does go through a bunch of different settings/terrains which is somewhat interesting.Read More
Suggested Improvements:
Have more scare actors and space out the groups a bit more
What They Liked Most:
I've made it a point to visit most of the haunts in my neck of the woods of southern New Hampshire. Going all the way up to Maine, the Lakes Regi... on of NH, central Mass, and more. Most haunts in New England have been worth it and the bar is always high and consistent. No place has surprised me as much as Hysteria. What was supposed to be a weekend stop at a smaller haunt located at a farm stand out of Danvers turned into a fun filled night of terror. Their haunt is long, stretches through several patches of wilderness (A corn field, a patch of woods, and some fields) as well as a good mix of buildings and sets. The mix of scare actors and animatronics is well balanced, and the length of the haunt is perfect since both times I've been (two separate years) I seldom got stuck behind the people in front of me. Which is always a problem with haunts - and always ruins the scares as you usually know what's coming. Some of the bigger haunts in my area could learn a thing or two from this relatively humble farmstand that has put up a phenomenal performance two years in a row.Read More

The majority of the haunt is outside and in muddy conditions. Definitely wear appropriate footwear for trekking through muddy New England marsh and fa... rmland.Read More
