Throughout the entire property, Reaper’s Revenge had 228 actors working on the night we attended. While that number sounds massive on paper, this attraction is so enormous that it never felt overcrowded with actors. In fact, the sheer size of the event is so impressive that they could probably add even more actors without it feeling excessive. That said, the current actor count felt more than sufficient, as there was always something happening around us no matter where we were on the property. The area with the highest concentration of actors throughout the night was Last Rites Funeral Parlor, where nearly every scene felt alive with energy, interactions, and scares. Sometimes the actors moved things and weren’t seen visually for long, but it worked!
For the most part, the actors were completely on point and stayed true to the characters they portrayed, which is quite the feat for an attraction this huge! Everyone, give yourself a round of applause! The hayride felt very theatrical and featured several memorable encounters. Along the way, we met a witch and even came across a group of zombies who seemed hypnotized by a disco ball. Suddenly, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” began playing, and the zombies broke into a dance routine. The scene was both unexpected and entertaining. To top it all off, the actor portraying Michael Jackson finished the performance by dropping into a split on the wagon and somehow dragging himself down the path while still doing the splits! It was one of those moments that leaves you wondering how someone can even do that. Continuing through the hayride, we also encountered our favorite actor from this section, Freddy Krueger. His performance was memorable, energetic, and served as a fantastic finale to the first portion of the hayride.
Once you reach the security shed, you know you’re in for a good time with Zed. He was one of our favorite actors during our previous visit, and this year was no different. His personality and performance immediately draw you into the experience. And his friends, well, let’s just say they’re ready to have a great time!
Down in the Lost Carnival, guests are treated to a tight and chaotic clown house filled with clowns sporting impressive makeup and wonderfully distressed costumes that fit the atmosphere perfectly.
Whoever was dressed up as trash out there – you rock!
In Delirium, the costumes and makeup looked fantastic, especially while wearing the provided 3D glasses. We were particularly impressed by some of the costume designs that blended seamlessly into the walls and scenery, making it difficult to tell where the set ended and the actors began. These clever camouflage effects led to several surprising scares. We also really liked how the paint designs on the mask popped with the glasses too, which isn’t seen often!
Moving into Last Rites Funeral Parlor, we encountered a variety of characters attending the funeral, including mourners who appeared genuinely distraught over the loss being honored. The costumes in this attraction were easily some of our favorites of the night. Every outfit felt authentic to the setting and helped bring the funeral home atmosphere to life. At times, it was nearly impossible to tell which ones were real and which were not!
In Pitch Black, visibility is nearly nonexistent. Most of the time, all you can see is darkness. However, when the lights briefly flicker on, you catch quick glimpses of actors dressed mostly in black, appearing and disappearing just as quickly as they arrived.
Finally, in Sector 13, guests find themselves in the middle of an apocalypse. Armed security personnel patrol the area in protective gear while zombies roam throughout the attraction wearing detailed, distressed costumes. The combination of tactical characters and infected survivors creates a believable end-of-the-world atmosphere that fits the theme perfectly.
We also want to shout out all of the roaming midway actors we came across – they were all interactive and looked great!
