Scoring Criteria Transition: 2026 sits right at a change in our review categories and weighting, so this score isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison to reviews from nearby years under different criteria; worth keeping in mind if you’re tracking a haunt’s rating over time.

Summary

This was the first visit to Scarefest Scream Park for both teams involved. When we first arrived and faced a long line of cars getting in (not to worry, it moved fast) and then a gigantic parking field and midway that both seemed fully packed, we had to wonder what we were getting into here. We soon had our answer: this is an *event* and a place to stay all night. It’s a colossal layout; we couldn’t see it all once we got in, and the crowds were massive. There was A LOT going on – haunts, games, merch booths,… Read More…

Scarefest’s website has all the key information to make your visit as easy as possible. They list upcoming events and themed weekends, their schedule with days and hours, which days are expected to be busier than others, and the option to buy tickets in advance. Just a 6-minute drive from I-94, GPS will get you to the park with no issues, and Scarefest Scream Park is hard to miss, with lights from its massive midway and moving searchlights. Once onsite, parking flows smoothly, with clear markers and lot attendants. One thing to note: parking is $5.00, but it all goes… Read More…

While Castle of the Dead isn’t fully themed as a castle inside, however the exterior facade was detailed and quite beautiful. With Knights on guard at the entrance and townsfolk tending the start of the queue, it felt completely in theme. Inside, it started out with a castle theme but quickly turned into a free-for-all traditional haunted house, filled with scares and themes, each its own. With that much freedom came a variety of creatures and scenes. Something always caught your ear or the corner of your eye, keeping us locked in as we crept through. Each area had its… Read More…

Special Effects6.53

The hayride was fully narrated by what sounded like the Red Queen AI from Resident Evil, plus other lively voices that told the story of the infection spreading all around us, all soundtracked by a powerful on-wagon sound system. The wagon moved at a serious clip and barely stopped once we started moving. All guests faced either left or right on this two-tier ride that had some of us with our butts planted on seating in the middle and then more riders seated on the floor in front. Those on the bench were insulated from actors coming up to the… Read More…

Let’s start by saying there were a ton of actors on hand – this is a huge multi-attraction with purportedly more than 100 on the hayride alone! That tracks, as we saw up to 6-8 scarers gathering around and behind the wagon in multiple instances. The house also felt pretty well stacked with actors, though the trail seemed a bit thin in spots. A costumed guide accompanied each wagon. We noted a pirate and a zombie on other wagons. Ours appeared to be some kind of simian creature that bopped along to the music piped on board. This multitude took… Read More…

Scare Factor5.57

Scarefest’s three attractions each have their own scare level, so everyone can have a fun experience; you can see for yourself, as our review numbers confirm those levels. The Hayride of Doom is a family-friendly experience with minimal scares. The few scares you do experience are jump scares from one of the many creatures that bombard the wagon as you make your way through the grounds. We found that unless you were sitting on the wagon floor near the edge, the scare actors didn’t pay you much attention. Next, The Forest of Darkness and Terror Zone Maze have mid-level scares.… Read More…
